Dex Dizznee. Dex Dizznee kidnapping trauma. Something something Dex not getting the chance to learn the horrors of the world through knowledge like his peers, but instead having to learn about the horrors of the world through first hand experience something something. The way the others are so kind about his trauma. Sophie never forcing him to go down there with her, Keefe holding onto his arm and being immediately concerned about him when he learned someone was taken in Lodestar, Biana holding on to his hand in Legacy(?).

Of course all of the kotlcrew have experienced many horrors throughout the series, but in regards to the Neverseen I feel like book 1 Dex had a specific kind of vulnerability due to lack of knowledge. The kidnapping was the elven world's first blatant introduction to their violence, so nobody could prepare for it. Nobody even knew to be afraid.
Sophie and Dex were the first--and Sophie, for better and worse, had grown up surrounded by violence. If not normal, she was familiar with the concept of a kidnapping and understood them; she'd never fully bought into the peaceful world. Dex had (social violence is different--that he's quite experienced in).
They got the be the lesson to the elven world. Everyone else is safer now because they weren't.
And all their friends are so nice about it!! It may not be explicitly addressed or a main point, but no one ever makes them feel bad about it. Everyone knows, and everyone's gentle, and no one makes them talk about it, but they'd all listen. I've said it before and I'll say it again the core of friendship and the people you surround yourself with making you better in this series is >>>>
