CHAPTER 1

Vander's long fingers gently wrapped around both his girls, Powder and Vi. something was different about them, sure, but at least they were here now. Everything was going to be okay now.

"I can't believe that, you're here now." Vi whispers quietly as she slowly lets go, gently taking off her gloves. "It feels like a horrible nightmare. and yet. I'm not afraid.". The beast gently blew a cloud of air at Vi, before leaning in towards her.. "it's not a nightmare Vi. it's real." Jinx assured, holding her sister's hand. "It's a lot to take in," she said, before scoffing. "Believe me, I thought for sure maybe I was going crazy, and that the first time I saw him, maybe it was just my brain. trying to trick me again." she gently held the side of Vanders head, her eyebrows pressing together. "but the moment I touched him, the moment he said my name." she paused. Isha gently tugged at Jinx's hand, noticing her silence. "I knew then, after that, it was him. that he was real.. that he was alive."

Vi stared for a moment, into Vanders heterochromic eyes, before feeling his face. "..he looks so different." she whispered, her hand feeling the fur on his back before pulling away. Vander sniffed gently at Isha, tilting her hat with his nose in curiosity, a small giggle coming out of the child as she grasped her hat to her head. Jinx slowly looked over to her right, before noticing light coming closer, the lights from the mines glowing at the sound of heavy footsteps. "what is that.." Vi asked, putting on the gauntlets. "enforcers." Jinx mumbled.

"what?" "ENFORCERS! we need to get out now!" Jinx barked at Vi, before picking up Isha. Vander watched as Jinx began to run, Vi staring at the approaching lights before growling and preparing to fight alongside Vi. "Vi!" Jinx yelled, turning around. "how did they find you!" Vi asked, turning to Jinx. "I-.." Jinx paused, staring at Isha and Vander. "..I don't know! we have to run!"

"I am not running from Enforcers!" Vi yelled, looking back. "You can't fight them by yourself!" "Jinx, run!" "Vi, Please!" "Just go!" Jinx stared at Vi, disbelief washing over her as she turned to run, before hearing Vander grunt in annoyance. Vander grabbed Vi by the scruff, before fleeing, Jinx following pursuit. "Vander!" Vi yelled, as the group fled from the every approaching lights ahead. "STOP!" a man yelled, before bullets began to fire, causing Jinx to try and pick up her speed. "Damn it! they probably sent them after Vander because of what happened in Stillwater!" Jinx growled. "Stillwater?! what were you doing THERE?" Vi asked, staring at Jinx in disappointment, dangling from Vanders jaws. "oh ya know! hero stuff! getting an entire town out for supporting yours truly! and also because Isha got taken!" Jinx grinned. "need to know anything else, sis?" "you're unbelievable." Vi grumbled.

Vander growled before they all came to a dead end. "SHIT." Vi shouted, banging her fist on the wall. "There's no way out, it's nothing but solid stone!" "So what do we do now? if we're caught, they might either arrest us or kill us." Jinx said, looking around. "there has to be another way out."

The footsteps grew louder. and louder.

"STOP!"

"wait. I know that voice." Vi said, turning around. "It's your stupid girlfriend." "She's not stupid. or my girlfriend." "uh huh." "Vi?" "stay here. don't.. don't move." Vi said softly, backing away from Vander and Jinx. Jinx simply rolled her eyes, before sitting near Isha. "not like we have any other choice."

Vi rushed out, looking around. "Caitlyn?" She called out, before locking her eyes onto Caits. "Vi.." Caitlyn whispered, her eyebrows furrowed. "you.." "It's me cupcake." Vi sighed. "It's vi." Caitlyn started. "..are you. alone?" "yeah. I'm alone." Vi stared into those eyes. those bright blue eyes. "Why are you here, cupcake?" Vi asked, putting her gauntlets down. "Ambessa." "oh, so Ambessa sent you here?" "NO! ..no." "then. why are you here." Violet approached Caitlyn, her eyes darting for any enforcers. "Are YOU alone?" She asked, her eyes still looking for any sight of a weapon on either Caitlyn or guard. "No. They are right behind me.." Caitlyn nodded, her head tilting behind her to give a direction on where the enforcers are. "you hit me in the stomach with a fucking barrel." Vi growled. "You left me there. and you just. expect me to blow this over?"

Caitlyn grabbed Vi's arm, shoving her to a wall before whispering in her ear "Ambessa, I was listening in to her conversation and she.. somethings not right. I knew something wasn't right. but I." Caitlyn stuttered. "..she's planning something, and it's going to put everyone in danger. Signed. the beast. the shimmer. I didn't know how else to tell you without having a bunch of spies on my back." she whispered in Vi's ears. "..you punched me in the stomach with a barrel." "I wasn't.. I wasn't myself." "yeah, no shit. what now." "..you have to come with me in handcuffs." "what." "I can't go back empty handed! she'll know." "I.. okay." "Vi. I'm sorry."

Jinx drew her ear away from the conversation, before looking at Vander and Isha. "..it's fine. just stay put." Jinx whispered, putting her finger to her lips as she peeked out, the sound of handcuffs clicking as Vi grunts. "shit." Vander slowly stood up to look, before noticing Jinx gently nudged him back, shaking her head. "..they're taking Vi." she whispered.
