In the iconic scene where Ennis finds his shirt tucked into Jack's, in the closet of Jack's family home (which was referenced with Jinx and Vi finding Silco's jacket tucked into Vander's in their hideout), those weren't just any of their shirts.

On the last night of their first trip together to Brokeback Mountain where they met and fell in love, Jack accidentally knees Ennis and gives him a nosebleed, and when he tries to offer help and affection, Ennis punches him. The sleeves of the shirts are still stained with the blood from Ennis's nose.
