George got pole for exactly the reasons people were making fun of him. He knows the rulebook inside and out, so he knew he only had to lift for a single yellow. Kimi didnβt and abandoned his lap. Even if he hadnβt, he said himself in his interview that he didnβt think he wouldβve beaten George to pole anyway. And people calling it a βfake poleβ annoy me to no end, especially after the stewards confirmed everything was legal and even Vasseur said there would be no further investigation.
