The gym was loud like always gloves thumped against bags, music blasted from someoneβs phone, and coaches shouted across the room. Y/N was leaning up against the ropes half-listening to a guy who clearly didnβt know when to stop talking.
At first, she thought it was kind of funny.
He was one of those boxers everyone respected, connected, the type of person that could write her name on the stars. He kept complimenting her footwork, her speed, how natural she looked in the ring at first it was professional then it got⦠a little much he stood too close kept talking too long.
Y/N laughed awkwardly nodded, shifted her weight, checked her phone. She was trying to hint she needed to leave none of it worked.
across the gym, javon watched everything.
he told himself it was nothing. She was just being nice just being her but the longer it went on the tighter his chest felt. Thatβs when he realized he was jealous.
By the time they drove back to the Walton house y/n being completely oblivious to the growing tensions.
When they got to his room, the argument started immediately.
βSoβ¦ what was that?β Javon asked.
Y/N laughed lightly as she put her gym bag down clearly not reading the room. βWhat was what?β
βThat guy,β he said. βYou were letting him flirt with you.β
She raised an eyebrow, smiling at first thinking it was a joke. βletting? be serious wanna.β
βI am serious,β he said. βYou didnβt say anything.β
She shook her head, still amused by the situation. βwannaβ¦ he was just talking.β
But he kept pressing, and her amusement quickly disappeared.
βHe was way too comfortableβ he said. βAnd you just stood there.β
Her eyes narrowed. βI stood there because heβs important not because I liked it.β
βIt didnβt look like that.β
βJavon,β she said firmly, finally using his full name, voice rising. βYouβre acting crazy I was uncomfortable and youβre mad at me for being polite?!β
He froze.
βYeah, Javon,β she said. βI was trying to get out of the conversation. I didnβt invite it, and youβre acting like itβs my fault!β
Javon didnβt respond. He just stared.
Y/N exhaled sharply, frustrated. βI canβt deal with this right now.β She grabbed her hoodie and stormed out, heading straight to Jaylaβs room.
She flopped onto the bed.
Jayla looked up from her phone. βWhoa. What happened?β
Y/N groaned, burying her face in the pillow. βHeβs being insane. That guy at the gym, the flirting, and your dumb brother he acts like I wanted it or did something wrong! I was just being polite. I tried to get out of the conversation, but I couldnβt because the guyβs important for my career and he blew up over it!β
jayla blinked, trying not to laugh. βmy dumb brother, huh?β
βExactly!β Y/N said, throwing her hands up. βI canβt even.β crossing her arms.
jayla smirked rolling her eyes. βclassic javon overthinking everything.β
Y/N buried her face in the pillow again. βI justβ¦ I canβt deal with him sometimes.β
A little while later, there was a knock at the door.
jayla opened it to javon, who looked nervous, fidgeting like heβd been bracing for this conversation. βCan I talk to her?β
Jayla glanced at Y/N, then nodded. βYeah. Iβll give you two a minute.β She stepped out, meeting Jaden in the hallway. βHeβs in trouble,β she whispered.
Inside, Javon stayed near the bed.
βIβ¦ messed up,β he admitted quietly. βI got jealous. I shouldnβt have snapped at you.β
Y/N crossed her arms back again, still frustrated. βYeah. You did.β
He swallowed and looked at her. βButβ¦ I love you. I justβ¦ I needed you to know that.β
Y/N blinked, caught off guard. βYouββ
βI know the timing is terrible,β he said quickly. βIβm not asking for anything back. I justβ¦ needed you to hear it. Even if I messed up.β

She finally released her arms so he could crawl in.
nothing was fixed instantly the fight was still in the air and the tension hadnβt disappeared. but it felt like they were on the same side again.
