#vogmask

I stick to my vogmask for pretty much everything. it’s covid safe, and me and my spouse still mask whenever we’re around people so I’ve always got it on me

I know they’re not NIOSH approved but they filter 95% of particles

They had great comfort, great fit/seal - very little glasses fogging as well as meaning it is not leaking, a prerequisite for being effective. They fit me well with a medium, my friend who was a large, and another friend who was extra small.

They were not NIOSH N95 - they were intended as consumer items not health and safety equipment. But the core filter was the same material used for N95.

And look at those styles! And they (originally) had vented and unvented ones, the vented ones were great for easier exhalation, when the concern was e.g. smoke. I used them first in 2018 and 2019 for fire season*, when the smoke blew in. For the height of the pandemic I wore a Honeywell N100 respirator, but after several vaccines and restrictions ended I eventually switched to vogmask. Never got negative comments about masking (we were in a good area for it though), in fact only times anyone commented on my mask was to say it was nice looking. They evidently end up closing shop just this January/February, due to tariffs and general rising costs. It really sucks, I have quite a few N95 masks acquired during the pandemic, but none fit as well. Or at least not without really tightening down, at which point they are uncomfortable. And if you have noticeably larger amounts of air going out the sides that means it is not working as well and probably isn't reaching actual N95 status.

Heads up, folks. Older Vogmasks may be like this (however, it seems they are selling non-valved masks now).

The valve is supposed to make it easier to breathe out, but that air you breathe out is unfiltered and could put others at risk. The design was great for dealing with air quality problems and allergies, not so much for preventing spread of COVID.

I know I have some arriving this week. I’ve been keeping an eye out for them because although I think the Cambridge valve masks work better, they’ve also got a weird chemical smell that makes me woozy. So I’ll be glad to go back to my vogmasks. Vogmasks also just seem to fit me better, so that’ll be nice.

Woof. The best day is a day with an 8 week old toy poodle puppy aggressively trying to lick under your mask.

excuse the potato quality photo but look!! my vogmask arrived!! the shipping was impressively fast coming all the way from america (even if it was quite expensive). i’ve been wearing a regular fabric mask for a while but i figured i would up the protection due to the current australian bushfire crisis which has left my town covered in thick smoke for the majority of the past few months. the vogmask has a reusable P2 filter which filters out smoke particles so hopefully it will provide some protection. it will also be helpful with the current corona virus scare.

i use a mask year round due to immune stuff, allergies, lung problems and to protect my face due to a skin condition which makes it extremely sensitive to any irritation. this new one is also very good because it has an exhalation vent which means my breath doesnt heat up my face as much (helpful when the temperature is regularly reaching 40°C/104°F, and i havent tested it with them yet but it will hopefully fog up my glasses less.
