Ready Rattlers....
INDIAN OCEAN (Nov. 2, 2017) -- United States Marines aviation technicians conduct routine maintenance on an F/A-18C Hornet single-seat fighter jet -- assigned to the “Death Rattlers” of Marine Strike Fighter Squadron (VMFA) 323 -- on the flight deck of the United States Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68).
Gold arrow indicates general movement of USS Nimitz and escorts.
As the sea rushes by, 90 feet (27 meters) below, (in the photo at the top of this post)....
....the aircraft carrier and its strike group are transiting over 5,000 miles (8,000 km) from duties in the Persian Gulf (center left, map above) towards operations in the vicinity of the Korean peninsula (top right, map above)....
....via the Singapore Strait, the South China Sea, and the East China Sea....
....joining the two other American supercarriers and their escorts in the same vicinity -- the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) carrier strike groups.
USS NImitz (CVN 68)
A very descriptive insignia for the “Death Rattlers” of VMFA-323!
