I’ve been holding Virgin Galactic ($SPCE) since 2020 — through the reverse split, the delays, the hype cycles, and the slow bleed of investor confidence. At this point I’m honestly trying to understand whether this company still has a future in space tourism, or if it’s quietly becoming a dead‑end vanity project that never found a real market.
A while ago I wrote an analysis to make sense of the business model — not as a financial expert, just as someone trying to understand what I was holding. I looked at:
the tiny size of the suborbital tourism market
the constant delays and shrinking revenue
the high cash burn
competition from SpaceX and Blue Origin
and whether the whole concept can ever scale
If you’re into space, business models, or the weird intersection where hype meets reality, you might find it interesting.

Would love to hear what others think — does Virgin Galactic have any real path forward, or is this just slow‑motion decline.
🎯 Boeing Virgin Galactic settle lawsuit over work on Virgin mothership
On October 3, Boeing (BA.N) and Virgin Galactic (SPCE.N) reached a settlement in a lawsuit related to Boeing's work on Virgin Galactic's space tourism "mothership." A filing in a Virginia federal court on Thursday confirmed the case had been resolved following a settlement conference earlier that day. Both Virgin Galactic's attorney, Brett Williamson, and Boeing stated in emails that the dispute had been "satisfactorily resolved by mutual agreement of the parties."
The companies did not disclose further details about the settlement. Virgin Galactic's mothership, a jet carrier, launches sightseeing spacecraft into suborbital space. The company completed its first commercial flight last year. In 2022, Virgin Galactic signed a contract with Boeing's Aurora Flight Sciences to assist in designing a new mothership. However, Boeing later stated that the project would be more costly and take longer to develop than initially anticipated.
In March, Boeing filed a lawsuit against Virgin Galactic, accusing the company of stealing trade secrets and failing to pay $25 million owed for Boeing's work. The lawsuit alleged that Virgin had taken proprietary information, including test data and mathematical equations, from Boeing. In response, Virgin countersued in California in April, claiming that Boeing delivered "shoddy and incomplete work" on the aircraft. Virgin argued it was entitled to monetary damages of at least the difference between the $45.6 million it had paid Boeing and the significantly lower actual value of Boeing's performance.
Virgin Galactic dismissed its California lawsuit in June, opting to pursue its claims within the Virginia case. A jury trial for the Virginia case was scheduled to begin in December. The case is titled The Boeing Company and Aurora Flight Sciences Corp v. Virgin Galactic LLC, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia under case number 1:24-cv-00456. Boeing's legal team includes Stephen Cowen, Brian Rabbitt, and Megan Lacy Owen from Jones Day.
