Week 3 (Lecture Reflection) - Minimalism, SFX and more Ambience
Minimalism was introduced to me in the core units Music Language 3 + Music  History 3, with Steve Reich being a well-discussed topic as part of these disciplines. However, I had never considered minimalism in the context of video game soundtracks. Horizontal resequencing and Vertical Remixing are interesting concepts that may prove helpful for the upcoming minor project (as well as the major one). In a way, these concepts correspond to Steve Reich's sentiment that music is "a gradual process" – not to be confused with the process of composing music – but rather the actual music itself, procedurally developing as an idea.
