Ok, so I get that a lot of things about Episode 88 and its aftermath were frustrating. But there were a lot of Good Things that I’d like to point out!
Matt’s beautiful descriptions of Vesrah, both above water and underwater.
Uvenda, just, in general.
Wingfic! Even if it wasn’t your thing, you have to at least admit it was funny.
Vex wanted to be a mermaid as a kid.
Trinket being adorable underwater!
They came really close to not having to fight the Kraken at all, which is pretty astonishing given how reckless their plans usually end up being. They were rolling really high on stealth, and they were finding the lode stones pretty quickly. If Tary hadn’t vomited, they could have been fine.
Grog said he’d be useless during an underwater fight and wanted to be turned into a whale, then kicked ass against the Kraken.
Vaxleth had some great moments, worrying about each other but also trusting each other to be competent at what they do.
Keyleth did some AMAZING things that helped the fight turn out so well! Including, but not limited to, literally blasting herself and Grog out of the Kraken, turning the whole party into electric eels, and then plane shifting herself, Vex, and Vax’s body out of the Water Plane.
Matt did an amazing job. He was faced with some frustrating circumstances from the players, the dice, and the game going so late. Despite this, he really worked with the players, and kept integrity when doing what the Kraken would do.
Vox Machina got all three lode stones, didn’t kill the Kraken, and everyone got out alive except for Vax. I mean, seriously, that is a win given how dire things were!
Matt said there were islands around Vesrah that were lush with plant life. That means Vox Machina can probably go through a tree to Emon, get Pike, and try to resurrect Vax fairly quickly.
And finally, I came online this morning expecting to see a lot of shit. Instead, I’m seeing so many Critters, maybe even the MAJORITY of Critters, being positive and supportive of the cast and each other. You all are awesome! <3
