Ooh. Interesting question. I feel like if the show does address either of those issues in any way, it's going to make or break a LOT of their support.

This is how I address this issue as a Catholic when I speak to LGBTQ people; I believe 2 things.

One, and the most important one; you are a child of God, made in His image. He died on the Cross for you and offers you the open gates of Heaven. How can I, as your fellow human, treat you with less love then He does? I will always try to treat you with the same human respect and love that everyone should be treated with.

Two; homosexuality in any form is a sin against God and against nature. This is stated many times in the Bible. I will treat you with kindness and respect, because in the eyes of our Savior, we are family, but I will not betray my love for Him by agreeing with something that I know hurts Him, something that I know contributed to His Passion and death on the Cross.

I see you as human. I respect you and deeply care for you, but I don't have to agree with you.

Please remember, above all, that my love and efforts are imperfect, because I am human too, but that God is perfect, and He sees, understands, and loves every part of you far more completely than I am capable of. I know that these things are the truth, so that's what I will act on.

As for abortion, I believe and will act on the Christian teachings, which actually date back through history to the beliefs of the ancient Jews, and are still taught by the Catholic Church to this day. I believe that a child is a gift from God, concieved of a man and a woman. I believe that at the moment of conception, God creates a new immortal soul and infuses it with the body. I believe that this new life, and all human life at all stages is sacred, and should be protected as something sacred. Either it is alive, or it is not. Either it is murder, or it is not.

These beliefs are rooted in the words of Scripture and the ancient traditions of Christians and Jews alike.

If I were to say "I am a Christian", and also say "I am pro-choice", or "I support LGBTQ+", then I would be compromising myself and betraying my Faith by picking and choosing from it's teachings. The technical term for this act is "heresy".

My desire to remain faithful to Christ's teachings about homosexuality and abortion is no different from my desire to remain faithful to His teachings on kindness and human respect. "Love as I have loved you." What is love if it is not true? Would you value my care for you as a person if it came from a place in my heart that was untrue to my core beliefs? Even if we disagree, is not honesty combined with respect more honorable? These things are not dead. We are only more easily distracted from them nowadays.

Ah. Mhmm.

So, Dallas has responded to the Mormon issue several times, and while I haven't gotten the chance to watch his videos on the issue, I'm grateful for his efforts and his honesty.

The thing is.

Mormonism is not actually a denomination of Christianity. If you look up the list of basic requirements for being a Christian, they don't meet all of them. And they've added stuff on as well. Which makes them a cult. And heretical. BUT. Many many of the members do believe that it is a denomination of Christianity, and witness that to others! Which makes it a sticky thing to address.

The thing I most admire about this show is how dedicated it is to bringing together ALL followers of Christ from ALL denominations around the world. An organization in which the majority of the members do not realize what they are, and what they are not, is inevitably going to get involved, and honestly? I would think it is better that these people are touched by it in some way than if they are not. If someone innocently believes in their hearts that they are following Christ, then He will not discount them. We already know that Jesus is Eternal Love, and that He offers this love to EVERY human being, however we try to pursue it. As for those who are aware of what they belong to, and are getting involved with ulterior motives, may God have mercy on them. Christians are right to be worried at the idea of their beliefs possibly trying to interact with ours. (You can find stuff on YouTube about what the higher-level Mormons believe and teach, and it is utterly terrifying.) I think that all we can do is treat them with kindness, pray for them, and set an example by how we pursue truth without compromise in our own lives.

"Courage, dear heart".

We have the benefit of knowing that Truth already won. The gates of Lies will not prevail against our advances.

Refusing to do something good for someone who is ungrateful follows human reasoning.

"God does not think as man does."

"Love your enemies."

"Forgive seventy times seven times."

If Christ followed our human reasoning when it comes to love and suffering, then He wouldn't have done a lot of things, including die on the Cross.

I think that the only time it's recorded in the Gospel that He completely denied someone and refused to acknowledge them in any way was when He was sent to Herod during His trial on Good Friday. And that was because Herod asked for a miracle with absolutely no genuine faith whatsoever. He wanted a show, a freaky curiosity, an entertainment. Christ knew there was no place for Him there. "Do not cast pearls before swine", remember? Christ knows when someone has sunk so far into their self-absorption and self-gratification that they could no longer hear Him if He called. That's why in the film The Passion of the Christ, we see Him silently shedding tears during His trial. He weeps for all those who cannot hear Him.

Anyone who has even the smallest shred of genuine goodness inside of them is not lost to Him. And anyone who might have asked Him for help in a gruff or unkind way, would have received it if He saw that it would make a difference in their hearts.
