Why would Dan be interested when sleeping with Sophie was a decision that was clearly embarrassing for him as we saw in 5x03 and drove Amy away from him?

This is the second flash we get of season 7 Dan/their season 7 dynamic, with him constantly rejecting her. The first one was in 5x08, where he starts to sleep around just because instead of for his career and insults her appearance. 

I loved the intimacy of them wearing pajamas in a shitty motel, but their dynamic :(
