asfdhsjhfk Vania is wonderful. She's so great, I love her personality and the chemistry she has with Cole. Her excitement to explore is infectious! They very much have Zelda and Link energy. Sometimes I'm hesitant when new characters are introduced to long-running series (especially ones hinted to have feelings for a main character), but I feel like Vania easily could have shown up in the earlier seasons. And the music and dragons and Cole himself shining so brightly as a character... what a fun season ^u^

Summary:

Cole has everything he wants: he's married to Vania, the world is mostly at peace, and he's officially King of Shintaro.

Unfortunately for Cole, when the world isn't at peace, whoever's causing trouble seems to have a personal grudge against him.

Alternatively: Cole has to deal with a baddie who can mind-control anyone he pleases.

This whole think has taken over my brain for what, over a month now? A Collab I didn't know I NEEDED and one I've adored, it's been an honour to be able to do art for a fic I'm also SO CRAZED ABOUT, @only-lonely-stars is an amazing author and trying their best to get the Cole/Vania tag up to 100 works on AO3 and I'm glad to be an instigator of one of them.

HIIII ANON, YES, I've heard of Vanillacake before and they're sooo cute!! I remember watching Master of the Mountain for the first time and thinking how well they complement each other. They're both sweet characters but they exude it in different ways: for Vania, she is bubbly and friendly, and for Cole, he's protective and kind. Not to mention, both are excellent leaders: Cole being the leader of the Ninja team before Lloyd, and Vania being the queen of the people of Shintaro.

THAT LOOK he gave her, though, when he was about to leave Shintaro and was approaching her so he could say goodbye? Her offering to send the entire army of her kingdom if the Ninja ever needed aid --- although logically and strategically, sending your entire army would be impractical? Him remembering her offer and taking her up on it when the city was being attacked by the Overlord in Crystallized, and her sending her ENTIRE army anyway, even though he thought she meant it as a hyperbole? Like, come on, it's like this came out of a romantasy novel 😭✨️

Not to mention, he still referred to Vania as "princess" in Crystallized, even though she was queen --- which might be a mistake on the writing's part, but hey, I'll take it as a crumb because it might also just be his term of endearment for her.
