#vampire bond

Does he feel that he's still alive? Did Akasha (or Marius 🤧) cut the bond? I need to knoooww

Why would it be thrown out the window... depending.

Is a bond between maker and fledgling connected between bodies or souls? If Daniel's soul were to be passed to another's body, would the bond still connect with that another body?

Same thing with a second turning for him, would it be recognized as powerful as the same turning, both in power and in bond?

The bond is a physical and metaphysical one. Blood and (underlaying) spirit, literally.

The way the show has emphasized it is the basis for the “silver cord“ plotline in the books. Which is why they bring it up in such a focused way.

I don’t think reforming the bond on a potential? second turning? will be the big hiccup, but IF they go that way then they will use it instead to make a point with it.

Hmmm. So.

*cracks knuckles*

First off, I do think it is an expression of them being connected by love. Lestat made Louis in love, that bonds them quite differently than Magnus and Lestat (as an extreme example.) (That is the romantic explanation^^)

And there is a blood connection. There is this musing in the books, where Lestat theorizes, that master and fledgling cannot hear each other directly because they're simply too close - the blood is too similar. They are running mental interference on each other. (That is the err.... "scientific" explanation^^)

Now, nonny, I don't know how much you know of the books. BUT - vampires are connected by a cord, the silver cord, as Louis (!) later calls it... this silver cord is the spirit that propels them and that is a wide net in a way. This spirit, Amel, has a bigger part in the last three books, and this silver cord is an important aspect (and Louis' part in the story a bit bigger again).

When Lestat says they're connected by a cord (for the vampire bond)... now believe me, but I squealed^^ (and his insistence on it, guhhh^^). That wording was no coincidence, imho. And we know that the Prince Lestat arc is part of the writer's awareness / consciousness at the very least (as the dance is very much proof of, and several interviews refer to Prince Lestat, too). (That is the later book canon explanation^^)

So where does that leave us?

I think it is a combination of all three factors, but the wording of it is no coincidence imho, not in a show like this.

I have theorized about that before, but Amel might even play into the events of episode 5 - we are working on a condensed timeline, and Amel's coming to consciousness was a violent and bloody one. He literally drove several vampires to extreme violence. (The "nature" comment is still a bit weird to me there, no matter how it happened.)

So... we'll see I guess.

The "silver cord" is too big an event in later books to skip (if we get there, fingers crossed) - this will show up again.

            “I can h-“ she coughs, “hear you.”

            “Oh finally! Great!” Jonghyun let’s his enthusiasm leak out in sarcasm, something Sayu could definitely tell even if she wasn’t bonded to him. She was riding in a car, she realized, they were in a cab. Where to, she didn’t even care, she was just relieved that she woke up. Her throat was sore and her voice came out in a raspy whisper when she asked, “What happened?”

            Jonghyun’s anger was so apparent it confused her, “You… fucking... stupid… I don’t know. You need to tell me what happened ‘cause the way I found you I think you should be a little more concerned about other people rather than worrying I am going to be the one to off you. At this rate I don’t see how you’re going to survive, how the fuck did you even get this far? Pure luck? I think it’s run out. Spill. Tell me who did it.”

            She wasn’t sure why he was so angry, she was searching her memories, just before everything was empty she remembered a hand around her throat, and terrible pain even worse than when her ribs were first bruised. She put a hand to her throat, it hurt, her hand was sore and she looked at her wrists, they were bruised. Her arms were sore. “Was I dragged?”

            “Excuse me? What the fuck does ‘I do not fucking know’ mean to you?” Jonghyun spouted, he kept going but Sayu started ignoring him. She was thinking, trying to remember more, she twisted and hissed while lifting up her shirt to look at her bruises. They were worse; maybe she cracked them this time. It hurt to breathe. “-ening to me? Sayu, hey,” he started sounding concerned. “Fuck me this is exhausting.”

            Sayu finally looked over to him. “Where did you find me? Was I alone? There was no one there?” He stared at her for a second, flashing anger but she could tell it was more out of concern than anything.

            He spoke slowly, maybe her addled brain had too little oxygen to process big words. “I found you in the hotel lobby. First I went looking at some stupid carnival and-“

            “That’s where I was, the carnival.”

            “No, maybe your head remembers it that way but your body was definitely chilling in the fucking lounge of our hotel, asleep on a couch. I’ve heard of sleep walking but-“

            “Shut up Jonghyun! I was choked out! See? Bruises right? Hey look, stop jumping the gun on everything and just explain to me what you know and I’ll tell you the big picture in the end.” Her outburst was much less intimidating than it should have been, first coming from such a small girl, second her raspy voice, and third the coughing fit at the end where she couldn’t catch her breath and it hurt to even try.

            He let her recover, she couldn’t tell if it was concern, outrage or severe pity for his human but either way she was thankful for it. Once she was marginally okay, he started out with a more even tone. Maybe he did calm down. “I went to the carnival because I found out your cell was used from there last. I only found out you threw up on the fucking Ferris wheel like a total dork.” He caught her annoyed feeling when he was trying to crack a smile and stopped, relaying the rest of the night before she woke up.

            He got a call from the hotel saying he had some guests and when he came back it was only her on the couch with her stuff. He put her in the cab and they were on their way to the new place they were staying with Onew and Minho who found a place pretty fast. Sayu told him about the vampire and the bonded and everything. Jonghyun didn’t say anything more but he quietly fumed. She fell back to sleep for the rest of the car ride.
