It’s really important to me that Devils Minion be just as romantic and tender as it is horrifying. Because it is and always has been both. Armand didn’t want to turn Daniel because he wanted to afford him the humanity that was stolen from himself - from Amedeo. Having Daniel grow old is such a beautifully romantic expression of that, because it means that Armand was successful. He allowed Daniel a full human life. This is why I’m reluctant to believe that Armand stalked Daniel without the presence of a past romance. It’s also why I’m put off by cast interviews that paint Daniel’s turning as violent, or when they said Armand hurt Daniel more than anyone else. They’re leaning into the horror and the possessiveness of it all, which is great, but it isn’t devils minion if there isn’t also a large helping of love and softness
“Ten CRAZIEST celebrity facts that you WONT believe!” (not clickbait)
That is no mystery unto itself, the making of Daniel. Loneliness will always inevitably press us to such things. But I was a firm believer that those we make ourselves will always despise us for it. I cannot claim that I have never despised Marius, both for making me and never returning to me to assure me that he had survived the horrible fire created by the Roman Coven. I had sought Louis rather than create others. And having created Daniel I saw at last my fear realized within a short time.
-Armand
trust that if I was Armand and my first fledgling – that I've been in love with for half a century – managed to walk in the sun so fast under my tutelage while only getting a little sunburnt, I'd go through a wave of uncontrollable lust that every vampire in the damn country would be able to feel

Something I literally can't stop thinking about in the DM park scene is when Daniel looks at Armand and is like "Yeah?". BECAUSE FOR A SECOND I SWORE WE WERE GETTING A "YEAH? YEAH".
And the look on Daniel's FACE??? He totally looked like he wanted it as much as I did. He looked EXPECTANT for it, that call and response, that return to their dynamic in Dubai, their arguing as foreplay.
And then the look Armand gives him after??? IT'S SO FUCKING LOADED DUDE! GO WATCH IT AGAIN RIGHT NOW AND TELL ME I'M WRONG
“We are lucky to be getting any DM at all. They do not exist until QotD” The thing is personally I’d rather we didn’t get any dm at all if this is how their introduction would be to the general audience. I was definitely not expecting them to kiss and fall in love right away. What bothers me is how fast we get confirmation of their being in a relationship without any build up to it at all and it happened entirely offscreen. Without even seeing why armand loves daniel in the first place, because he stalked him for 52 years? We haven’t even seen evidence daniel loves armand as much before we got confirmation of a relationship. I would have liked it so much better if they revealed all this in a time where they can actually have focus and if that was in season 4 or 5 that would’ve been fine with me. They deserve actual care to their story.
I think this introduction makes perfect sense. Daniel being resistant at first and then joining Armand in whatever he’s doing tracks with Daniel’s character. He missed his maker, here he is.
When Daniel says he’s seeing someone, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re already deeply in love and we just didn’t see it. They’ve just been working together.
And did it happen off-screen or did it happen in the background? Because those are different things. The implication is that we’re not going to go back and get any additional context behind what’s been happening between them and that just doesn’t add up considering we haven’t seen what Armand is up to. Rolin said numerous times Armand’s arc is incomplete. Specifically, there is more context to the Larry scene. So we are revisiting that, why wouldn’t we revisit anything else? We’re going to learn about what Armand is doing and Daniel has been with Armand for a lot of it.
Waiting till season 4 for past!DM makes sense to me. We bring them back together, we establish what their dynamic looks like now, as tumultuous as it is, and then we build on that. We get the non-book readers used to the idea of them together, because it is a strange concept if you don’t have prior context. They’ve been hammering home Armand turning Daniel in a fit of rage for wrecking his marriages. You need to allow time for that to subside.
Armand is in love with Daniel but we do not know how Daniel feels yet. Having him fall back in love with Armand around the same time as we learn about their real past just makes sense to me. It’ll be season 4 though. Season 5 seems like too long a wait.
They do deserve care being put into their story, I agree. I just don’t think that hasn’t been the case so far. It’s a slow burn and we’re missing a whole lot of context right now. I do get where this worry is coming from, but Episode 7 will likely have some answers as to the current nature of their relationship. And season 4 will be QotD, which is a novel with an ensemble case. This was still Lestat’s season, so it would make sense that most of the screen time would be his.
From his vampire loneliness face in the first few episodes to this?
"I'm seeing someone." Yeah I bet.
Who's the bottom now, Daniel?

The realisation that mutual past-DM has to be real because what we're currently seeing is a combination of "Part 2-QOTD DM" and "post-QOTD breakup DM" so if they were to not do past-DM then they would have just cut the entire chapter from QOTD (where we're heading next) which I just don't believe for a second they would do.
I really want to see this exchange from the QOTD between Armand and Daniel at the final concert.
Then I want all 50,000 vamps to vanish because of DM's crazy rapture bond. Then I want them to kiss.

Armand is the only one yet to be treated kindly by the narrative. I can’t recall a moment where he was sincerely taken seriously. We had the Louvre scene, but Dreamstat fucking laughed at him.
Which, sure, it made sense at the time. Louis didn’t fully trust Armand, Dreamstat is an extension of him and his guilt. I get it. It’s a heartbreaking scene, but it makes sense. I don’t think the show is wrong for this. I just want him to be able to have the sweet moments Louis and Lestat get. Hell, even Daniel has had his sympathetic moments.
I want one person to actually be kind to Armand without him being mocked or taken advantage of. No ulterior motives, especially considering the depth of the horrors he carries. I need this season to be the turning point. He can still be evil, of course, but I just need it to be fairer from here on out and I do think it will be.
