Okay but it’s so Armand to make his only fledgling feel like the rapture has come whenever he feels him.
It could never be conventionally romantic. It always has to be some spooky shit with him. Of course being connected to him feels like everyone else has been removed from the planet.
It’s not that everyone fades out and he’s the only person in the room like in a romance movie. It’s “we are alone on earth together because everyone else is dead. The entire planet is just one been liminal space and you and I were left behind by God.”
Which for them is in turn actually very romantic because they’re both freaks, so it’s incredibly beautiful and true to their book relationship.
All of this⬆️ And Daniel referencing the rapture is also a nice homage to Daniel’s and Armand’s ship name ‘Devils Minion.’
What a big clue we got in episode 2! Devils Minion is here🎊🥳🎉
Jasper doesn't lie. That's what he says, and I've talked about this point quite a bit in several other places regarding manipulation around half-truths, but I'd never thought about the scene of them going to the elevator. I'd never thought about
Where are we going?
To my kill room... I'm fucking with you man.
But no. Technically, he wasn't joking, but he lied about joking because they were going down to the basement, where the revenants are kept (I'll never remember how the hell to spell that). Where Jasper transforms people into those things. By what means? Death.
Risky Business (part 7 of 15)
Guy may have chosen Jasper over the sun, but the reality of his new lifestyle may well prove too difficult for him to reckon with.

Gasper where
Jasper is the leader of a cult, a sect, in a small town with a neo-Gothic medieval aesthetic, purely for fun. The kind of figure whose word they venerate. And occasionally his body, in orgies.
Guy is a civilian who tries to stay as far away from all this as possible until his mother gets involved in the cult and he needs (given his own morals) to save her. To do this, he infiltrates.
Pretending to believe the nonsense that even Jasper doesn't believe, smiling and waving to his "siblings." It's strange that they call themselves that considering they have sex regularly, but Guy doesn't dare get involved in those nights. All he wants is to convince his mother to get out of there. And not attract the attention of the leader himself. He fails at both. His mother gets involved with another member and seems happier than ever, at peace and all that. And Jasper clearly feels something for Guy, given the attention he receives inside and outside the cult members' meetings to hear his word.
It doesn't take long for Jasper to desire this brat who clearly doesn't believe in anything preached there. This only makes him more attractive because the cult has become boring, so boring. Even the orgies. But those last ones improved simply because of the expectation that maybe Guy would show up at one of them. He never does. So Jasper seeks him out privately. Being charming, kind, manipulative, and so, so clearly interested that Guy can't refuse.
He refuses. Of course. But it doesn't take long for him to feel equally interested in Jasper. He caught him before at those orgies, watching like a voyeur. He knows Jasper would be good.
So he gives in, as long as it's just the two of them. He may be a voyeur, but he's not very exhibitionist.
They have sex. They slowly fall in love. The same old story.
But Guy refuses to be the sexual and romantic partner of some fucking cult leader. Jasper comes up with a simple solution: run away together and abandon the cult.
Well. It's tempting. And his mother seems so happy with her new husband, much more attached to him than to Jasper or Guy himself.
It's actually a very simple choice. But it's difficult to create a story when people ask him, "And how did you two meet?".

Lestat institutes an "Armand jar" on the tour bus because Daniel and Salamander won't stop yapping about him. 🙂↕️
Whatever you do, do not imagine Armand finally reading the book and seeing the level of detail and care that Daniel put into describing him, and realising that though he wiped his memories of their time together in the 70s, there’s still an echo of how it felt inside Daniel somewhere. Daniel describes him with such a deep layer of understanding that really shouldn’t be possible for someone who only knew him for the duration of both interviews, which is all Daniel should have knowledge of. Armand leaps off the page compared to the other characters, equal parts beautiful and monstrous. Armand realises right there, with the book in his hands, that his boy still loves him, and that he’s out there right now, alone and completely new to vampirism. No one to teach him properly. Yet he stays away anyway.
And you certainly shouldn’t imagine that Daniel’s vampiric loneliness is way more extreme than the typical vampire loneliness because he also misses someone he doesn’t know he misses. The love of his life was ripped right out of his mind and now there’s a hollowness in him that he hadn’t quite noticed before but he realises it’s been there for the majority of his life. It’s impossible to pinpoint the source though. He thinks that it’s just the vampire bond, that he has a strange attachment to his maker. But he has no idea just how attached to his maker he really is. This emptiness he carries really began about fifty years ago, something Daniel has been attributing solely to his drug abuse at the time. But it’s not just the drugs. There’s something else, and the only person who can help him make sense of it is hiding from him even though he never really wanted to stay away in the first place.
The Gremlin. S1. S2. S3.

Real and True.
Does anyone else think about how the two years between iwtv s2 and tvl are probably the first time Armand, who is terrified of being alone, has ever been without other vampires since he was turned. Because I do.
