Childhood Psychiatry Disorders: High yield for USMLE
Day 1
I might use this account to chronicle my journey taking Step 1/getting to the US. I’m still not sure that that’s my end goal currently but every time I think about the topic of traveling to another country I get some serious anxiety.
I don’t want to make a decision based on fear and uncertainty and then regret it or always think ‘what if’ so I started studying for Step 1 today. I’ll use this to keep myself accountable so I guess this is day 1. I’ll be doing my last year of med school along with it so it might be slow going but what I’m hoping for is consistency.
So today I studied a chapter of pathology and did the Anki deck for it. Not heavy, I know a lot of it, but it’s a good start and I’ll see where this takes me.
Today is the first day of the rest of my...
...study life!
Landed and settled in at my parents' yesterday, and today is the first study day. From today til the end of July, all of my days will look the same:
- 3 blocks of UWorld (+ review) - theory review - read over notes - intermittent self-assessment days - OET prep (til Friday) - flashcards when I feel like it
The goal will be to study 10 hours a day at least... let's see how day 1 goes!
I have less than a month until I have to start an observership (August 1st), and no exam date. No pressure, no stress, totallyyyy feeling chill here.
Use our web-based drawing pad to complete drawing exercises, matching exercises, and fill-in-the-blank cards! A great way to review key medical science concepts!

Day ?/100 days of productivity
I haven't been posting much this week because of an anatomy card signing and then a quiz, but oh boy have I been productive.
I also got back my Amboss USMLE diagnostic, and unsurprisingly I failed. But I was pretty close to passing! Considering I've only covered 1/4th of the material that's on the USMLE, I'd say that's pretty good! Its a nice reminder that every small thing I learn now is actually really important, even if it doesn't seem like it. And I retain more than I think I do :)
Want to retain and recall pertinent information for the MCAT or USMLE quickly? Here's how to make flashcards part of your daily routine.

STEP 1
Hey fellow Med bloggers,
I have some good news to share. I passed my USMLE Step 1 exam. I never thought i would be able to say that. The road wasn’t easy- I went through bouts of depression and anxiety, and I even thought about quitting it all together, but glad I was able to get through it all. Each and everyone of you who messaged me, and checked up on me all deserves some major Shout out! I wouldn’t have made it without my support system. The thing about my step 1 score is that it isn’t so great. It’s actually less than 200 and I am honestly terrified as to what that would mean to me in the future. Residencies are competitive and everyone is considered for interviews based on scores. I am really hoping that I can do better in upcoming Boards and shelf exams, and hopefully those can make up for my poor step 1 score. I don’t know. Just praying and hoping.
