Car-Car Collisions -- damage to car is usually dramatic -- amount of damage can indicate severity -- high amount of damage = high index of suspicion -- can make patient extrication difficult -- inspect the car to determine the mechanism of injury

Passenger-Car Collisions -- the passenger hitting the inside of the car -- knees hitting the dashboard cna fracture lower extremities -- rib cage hitting the steering wheel can fracture ribs -- head hitting the windshield can cause head trauma -- more frequent and severe if the passenger is not restrained

Passenger-Internals Collisions -- the passenger's organs hitting the solid organs of the body -- may be less obvious than external injuries -- can be life-threatening
