“High Rise/Hard Fall” follows the lives of Fabian, Beatrice, and Penelope, three high school graduates and best friends. They’ve decided that they’re on the verge of having a reckoning with their own personal traumas, and are determined to put it off for as long as possible in favor of wanting to enjoy the last perfect summer before heading off to their dream colleges. When Penelope finds out her favorite singer died, she’s convinced that it wasn’t actually an accident. Fabian and Beatrice think she’s spent too much time on Reddit, but agree to help her “investigate” – only for them to slowly become convinced Penelope is actually right and they might be on the verge of solving a murder.

He couldn’t stand it, all of this inside him. In the end, he was nobody to Adam, he was nobody to Ronan. Adam spit his words back at him and Ronan squandered however many second chances he gave him. Gansey was just a guy with a lot of stuff and a hole inside him that chewed away more of his heart every year. They were always walking away from him. But he never seemed able to walk away from them.
