Yes, I’m the white lady that bought Hacienda Paradisíaco. 

I’m from a long line of suburban Newcrestians (like long long, we still have my great grandmother’s crinolines somewhere in the attic). Newcrest is a beautiful city in it’s own way, but I always found it cold, politely affectionate. 

When I moved to Britechester for university, the world really opened up for me. I met Javier during freshman orientation Foxbury (Go Lobsters!) and he was so open, a very generous, lovely person, high spirited and always there for his friends. When he spoke about Oasis Springs and it’s history, he came alive in a way I’d never seen before. He was a truly fascinating person. 

We all knew he was struggling with his grades, but we didn’t realize the full extent until after they found him. Javier was a first generation college student and president of the spirit squad, he seemed so happy. 

Nobody knew he had a learning disability, because he loved research. Nobody knew that wasn’t sleeping so he could work part-time to pay for tuition. Nobody knew he had a history of gloominess or that he couldn’t afford his medication anymore. We were all right there, and nobody ever saw the toll it was all taking on him. 

When he went missing the spring of senior year, everyone just thought he was off on some crazy adventure. I was the one who found the note. 

He’d left it for me because I loved his stories about Oasis Springs. It turned out, even though Javier was surrounded by friends, I was the only sim who listened. 

I brought the note to the police station and they found his body on the beach a few days later.  

His family invited me to stay with them for a few days so that I could be a pallbearer at his funeral. Outside of the strip and the mega mansions, Oasis Springs is the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. I fell instantly in love with it’s wild tenacious spirit, the plants and families thriving against all odds. 

At the time, there was a fight going on between some skeezy developer and some local preservationists over the dilapidated remains of the Paradisíaco Estate. 

I knew he would want me to save it. 

After 4 years of renovations, we’ll be ready to open to the public this spring. The Hacienda is now a working farm growing traditional crops. Visitors will be able to explore the grounds, shop at our farmer’s market, or enjoy a farm to table meal at our 5-star restaurant, La Cocina Javier.
