not to talk about hozier again, but in addition to his outspoken political stances and homages to artists of color, the biggest thing that makes me sort of insane is that his lyrics are straight up poetry. like, rly fucking good poetry. i say that as a fan but also academically, as someone with a degree in literature and creative writing. you could read his lyrics in a book and be still be deeply impacted by the words even without the music to accompany them. his use of metaphor is absolutely masterful, and he toes the line of academic and laymen so well. like, he's obviously extremely well-read and a super smart dude, and you often have to, y'know, use your brain to understand what he's getting at, but it's also not so esoteric that it's impenetrable. like he has a great voice and the music slaps, but bro at his core is a Writer™️
idk man, just. with a few exceptions, i don't usually attach to individual artists like this, but anyone who can make me cry writing about roadkill deserves recognition

Guys wtaf did we just watch? It's like every single thing we said the writers could never be terrible enough at their jobs to do just happened. And the entire rest of the story was the most plodding, poorly written crap I've seen so far in this show. I feel like we just got punked in the most horrific way possible. Weren't we supposed to be left on some kind of emotional cliffhanger at the end of Ep 7? That was watered down gruel. Were we just lied to the whole time? I'm still reeling and this is just my initial braindump but I feel like I just got stabbed in the gut.
