Magic Spectacles
Oh sight is an unusual thing,
So many ways to improve,
Such obvious tools to us.
Wouldn't it be great if they didn't,
If magic spectacles did nothing for sight,
No seeing through walls,
Or revealing hidden things.
No infrared vision,
Or seeing in the dark.
What if the glasses were just that,
Frames enchanted to be hearing aids?
Or sunglasses that create an umbrella,
Useful for any weather.
It would be so much more interesting,
Than that same old story again.

Elias had mentioned in passing that he’d met someone new who was using magic. He was musing over it while speaking to himself in the study the previous night. Despite that, Silky had never expected the woman to appear at the door and at a time the magus happened to be out. Still, the Neighbor sensed no hostility from her. She certainly wasn’t going to make her wait outside for hours. That was reserved for the bothersome Priest only.
She opened the door wide, gloved hand gesturing for the new acquaintance to come inside. She’d just finished baking some muffins and the tea pot never ran dry or cold in her house. She pointed to a chair in the sitting room off to left and went to the kitchen, leaving the woman to collect her thoughts until she returned.
