Hey, US Americans... actually anyone else too because diseases are global. RFK's idiot son is allegedly stopping all federal testing for measles and mumps. Following the Trump/deSantis playbook for Covid--if you don't test for it, there is no outbreak. Genius. (I assume from this the numbers are growing rapidly but who knows. "Most transparent administration" lmao)
If you haven't been vaxxed for those (it is the MMR vaccine we all used to get as children until grifters lied about it) go to a clinic or a hospital and get the shot/s. Insurance companies prefer people vaccinated (it is cheaper than hospitalization) so you shpuld be able to get the shot free or cheap.
OR if you were vaccinated a long, long time ago, like if you are in your seventies now, or maybe you only got one shot instead of the two for the MMR, you can ask a doctor about checking your status. You might be fine. You might need it again.
Measles is awful, very transmissable, and kills some people. Usually children. If it doesn't kill you, it can fuck with your immune system for life.
(And considering how quickly idiot number two, Hegseth, has allowed the flu to spread because of his attitude toward vaccines and the *very* predictable outbreak that followed his decisions, as a reminder, the flu also kills people, even (and sometimes especially) physically fit, young people.)
