Gimme Theo hcs please. Can he draw? Does he play any instruments? What books does he like to read?? Tell me more about my bby
theodore nott can play the piano, his mother started to teach him when his father wasn’t home, when he was young and small enough to fit between her knees and the big, old instrument standing in the middle of the cold mainroom of the nott’s manor
he would follow her long, elegant fingers with clumsiness at first, until his own fingers started to grow long and elegant like hers, until he couldn’t stand anymore on her lap, unable to fit between the piano and her
so they started to play side to side, easy melodies growing until more complicated ones, the music filling the always cold and always silent, solemn and penumbrous room
until she would just contemplate him play, fingers as skilled as hers, moving effortlessly through the ivorys and the blacks, playing her most favourite melodies
(when his mother died, the piano stood up untouched for years, accumulating the same kind of dust which seemed to be layering up on theodore nott’s skin. it wasn’t until a christmas break that he started to play again, and theo noticed the connection, the music, the way his fingers felt against the ivory of the keys was the last thing that linked him to his mother, and the only thing his father couldn’t touch)
theodore nott can’t draw, he wasn’t born with the talent, neither with the spatial vision, or the patience
not in the way draco did, when he would just draw beautifully detailed portraits of narcissa and lucius when they played together in the malfoy’s manor, and he wrinkled his nose furiously at the junction of lines and circles that were supposed to be an unicorn
but theodore nott could take pictures, and because he was always silent, melting away with the background, he always took the best shots
(he just had the feeling that if he didn’t try to capture everything, it would start blurring in the back of his mind, like the way his mother’s features started to falter)
reading had always been theodore nott’s way to scape from his reality
as every wizard child, his mother would read to him the tale of the three brothers until he could recite the words by heart
but when he was old enough to receive private lessons, before hogwarts, reading by leisure became a luxury theodore nott just couldn’t have
his days were occupying with history of magic and french lessons, until he was fluent enough to speak with draco in a language that wasn’t their own
(something they like to use up to this day, to gossip, or rile blaise and pansy up)
but arriving to hogwarts meant two things that ended up being theo’s entire world: time and silence
he would sit in the library and devour books after he was done with his homework, he liked the read about history of magic and legends of old wizards and witches, and particularly he liked to learn about foreign magic, the one practiced in the east west, asia, and the depths of south america, it was as the furthest his readings would go, the furthest from reality he could drift along
and lately, he liked to read muggle literature harry recommended him, he had developed a taste for poetry, his current favourite being william blake
