Thinking back to your last adventure, did it go as you planned it? Driving, parking, visiting your desired location. All as easy as pie?
Or was there an issue or two? Some how, it went a bit different than you had planned. Hike A was full so you went to trailhead B. Or maybe the weather changed from what you were expecting and you had to adapt with your 10 essentials in your backpack (always a good idea in the Pacific Northwest).
Sometimes, I think it’s the adventures that go very different than what we planned that can be our favorites afterwards. Called “type 2 fun” it may have been kind of miserable at the time but awesome looking back. And these are great learning experiences. I’ve learned a lot about weather through Type 2 fun experiences and that packing raingear is a good idea all the time (again, a good idea in the Pacific Northwest).
Maybe you have a memory of Mount Rainier like that. What was your favorite Type 2 fun memory? Did it teach you about any gear or training that you now never leave home without? ~ams
