First boletes coming up. I like to pick these. They are pretty flavorful for tylopilus. I still don't know if they are t. badiceps or t. Ferrugineus but they are tasty. As they age they look more like Ferrugineus. When they are buttons, their maroon and inward turning cap edge make me think badiceps.

Tylopilus felleus somewhat resembles the tastier, netted bolettes, but is revoltingly bitter. The dark brown spots on the net, pinkish tint to the pores and pinkish-brown bruising are distinguishing characteristics.
