Day 1.
Hey everybody!!! :)
Heartless move like animals and creatures that could feasibly exist and Nobodies move like a poorly-done sfm animation with shiny, rubbery textures no living humanoid should have. End of the World is all crags and sparkling waters and strange plants and life and everything from everywhere mashed together and The World That Never Was is all hard edges and neon lights and the illusion of a city where not a single person lives and it is pristine and perfect. A heart is connection and growth and a hollow body is stagnation. As a final boss Ansem turns into a massive inorganic structure (boat) made of organic material (flesh) and Xemnas turns into a massive organic structure (dragon) made of inorganic material (buildings). The former, the heart and Heartless and End of the World, is about the raw substance, and the latter, the body and Nobody and The World That Never Was, is about the appearance. and you need both
A treatise on Nothingness and its state of being: A study of The World That Never Was
This study aims to clarify what nothingness is and how its contradictions work within our universe. As the most tangible example of Nothingness, all work was performed on The World That Never Was (TWTNW). As an entire world made of Nothingness, TWTNW provided the greatest opportunity to define Nothingness beyond the intangible.
(Go check out Nek's beautiful blackboard piece of twtnw here!)
My piece for the unofficial KH worlds guidebook! Because who doesn't want to read a piece of headcanon scientific theory on Nobodies?

literally no one asked for this but i made it anyway kinda self-indulgent? maybe? but honestly? that’s good every once in a while also i got to try out the whole kabedon pose thing which i’ve never successfully done notice how i have literally no idea how to use tags haha
In the same way that "End of the World" is sort of like the Heartless of all worlds in KH1, TWTNW is the Nobody of all worlds.
It's created to exist in darkness. A world of memory (Memory's Skyscraper, which "watches over" the world), that has no heart.
No heart, because no PEOPLE. Worlds only have hearts when they have people. The people ARE the heart of a world.
But... then what happened?
The World That Never Was brought people to it, who were just like it was. Beings of no heart, born in twilight to live in the Dark, with memories but nothing else.
Thing is... I feel like with this, we should have figured out the thing about Nobodies having hearts earlier. They're just a smaller version of their own world, after all, which... slowly found a "heart" (people, in that case) and the more people it gathered (connections) the more "heart" it had, the stronger it got.
I don't know if this was intended, but that's my headcanon now. Brought on earlier by thinking "I really wish I could go inside these buildings, even though they're probably all empty, and with no people."
