This has been in my inbox for a few days but I haven’t answered because I wanted to have a proper think about it. I think the reason I like them so much is that they have that very rare dynamic that is so valuable in the media, where they are both likeable and suited to their roles as creators and media people individually but together they’re so much better. I know that I am a big fan of . They’re both funny people and clearly have matching senses of humour so they can build on each other’s jokes flawlessly. I love that they bounce off each other so well and that has to be because of their genuine compatibility as friends too. But that shit is so so watchable no matter what they’re doing. And honestly, as much as Ryan’s research and dedication and ability is vital, I do think the success of Unsolved has got to due to their compatibility. I could certainly see them working together on other projects other than Unsolved basically because their relationship is a valuable commodity to a media corporation like Buzzfeed and they wouldn’t let something like that go. You see similar relationships across Buzzfeed’s videos because ultimately, even before Youtube and internet personalities and such, media has used people who have that sort of relationship all the time because it makes the viewers feel like they’re apart of it as well (I’m thinking of Frank Skinner and David Baddiel as a very UK-centric 90s example). I guess what I’m saying, turtletag, is that I agree with you. Because their banter is funny as fuck because they are the perfect combination that makes so many double-acts work.
