I’m genuinely curious about this because things on tumblr dot com have changed since I joined 84 years ago
Did you know that tumblr doesn’t have an algorithm as its main function/way of showing you things? I.E You follow blogs and reblog things to see posts and get posts seen, the app/website doesn’t pick stuff for you based on trends or arbitrary algorithmic shenanigans (like IG or Twitter does) unless you go into the For You feed or search tags. Occasionally I think you’ll see a “trending” post as you scroll your main feed, but that’s not its primary functionality. It shows you posts in the order they’re posted or reblogged by the blogs you follow unless you’re searching a tag or I think the “for you” and “your tags” page - those might be sortable by date or most popular or trending - but I hardly go on those so I’m not entirely sure how those feeds are ordered

I need the help from people who are good at Tumblr.
I once saw in passing that it is allegedly possible to block a keyword or tag in a specific way that will make sure no posts containing the blocked content will even appear on my timeline, even if people I follow post about it or if they are part of search results.
You know, opposed to posts appearing blurred out but with big letters telling me “YO! That thing you don’t ever wanna hear about? That thing whose existence you actually would like to forget? That thing that makes you mad, sad or both? It’s in this post right here!!!
So if any tumblr experts now what magical thing I have to do for posts that contain content I blocked to just not ever appear on my timeline ever, please share! 🙏

Huh. Apparently the maximum links you can have on one post is 100... Which probably sounds like A TON to most people, but it is currently causing me a lot of trouble bc my Jemily fic list is longer than 100 works, my navigational post has more than 100 tags, hell, even my queerminal Minds master posts incomplete bc of this limit 🫠
Trying to find ways to work around this the best I can. Might need to reformat some stuff and rewrite my desktop blog theme 😩

i will probably google this (eventually. i like hearing from others) but does anyone have any tips on how to describe art for alt text? despite being an artist, i find it hard to figure out how to describe art accurately and concisely. how much detail is too much detail? do people who use the alt text function like knowing what the piece is meant to evoke/what the character is expressing? etc..
i'm not a huge art account lol but i wanna make sure anyone who needs alt text to understand my art, HAS it tt..

There should be a function for the tags you follow that either a post from said tag will only be shown to you like twice as well as it NOT being shown to you again after you interacted with it.
Like yes, I like the content in the tag but for fucks sake I do not need to see the fanart or fantheory, which I already like AND reblogged, another twenty times.

Do you mean release? If you did, yes and no. I was writing in my phone earlier and my internet cut out while I was saving my draft, and Tumblr posted it.
It's privated till I complete it.
