do i fit into the aroace community?
i’ve been thinking a lot about community lately, like how to create and foster intentional community, like what kind of people i want around me (gentle, kind, empathetic, accepting, other similar words that i can’t think of now).
but it’s hard sometimes. or, really, a lot of the time.
i truly don’t know how to find people who Get It (this time, the “It” is me being ace and some sort of aro). but, let’s face it, there are a lot of other intersecting identities i have that feel like an overwhelming barrier to finding people who can relate to my experience.
for example:
how does a person learn to show up as their true self when they’ve been told over and over again not to do that? (… like, c’mon, even my submission posts to aro or ace or aroace tumblr blogs are being denied, rejected, left unposted)
ALSO. (genuine question) where do people go to process, and talk about, being aro and/or ace? i honestly have no idea... is this A Thing Friends Talk About(?)
