Let's take a look at Tuchanka's city of the ancients.
Hi, I'm Deb, your tour guide!
LMAO, joking, joking. But can you imagine a tour guide on Tuchanka? "Follow me, you pyjaks!!!" :D
Anyway let's start. I'm not going to explain what things are, I just want to show them as the mission displays them.
So this is the one where we find the ruins on Tuchanka after the convoy is stopped and Shepard and squad get separated from Wrex, Bakara and Mordin.
The ruins are underground and appear like this at first:
Inside, we can find statues of krogan:
We can also find this painting on the wall:
This painting is found on other walls on the city outside. When we first find it, the game identifies it as "Ancient Krogan Artifact" and it can lead to a squad discussion about the fact that "krogan could paint once upon a time" and nuclear war has "a way of erasing the past."
This is another painting found in the city:
No comments on this one, sadly. But I find the signs on each side very interesting!
As we leave the ruins, a squadmate can comment that what we see is different from our usual view of Tuchanka, it's a part of Tuchanka that "isn't rubble":
And then on the surface, we see the city has been damaged but it's quite pretty:
Green, plants that still grow. Bakara says we're looking at hope. That Tuchanka was once a world full of beauty and given the chance, it can be again.
We see what the building covering the ruins looks like from outside:
As the city is damaged, we often see statues of krogan lying on the ground. Some are also broken.
The walls underground and on the surface often look like this, with those squares:
And those are also everywhere:
We can see the same painting from the ruins on a building, but this time the colors have not been preserved:
With another painting:
You know those red signs previously? I used my sniper rifle to zoom in lmao
Black now because of the damage outside but we can see the sign a bit better, and the painting:
Again, those pattern were put on the wall:
They're not always a part of columns and cover many walls of the city.
While the ruins feel very small, the city outside shows krogan used to build very high buildings and infrastructures that survived a nuclear war:
We can also often find high columns that look like this:
They placed statues of krogan on key parts of the city:
As we move even further, we see five statues in an open space like this:
One of the squadmates, in my case James, says it looks like a memorial. One of the statues has its head on the floor and we can see it clearly here:
If you're wondering what is at the center of the memorial, this is it:
If we move past it and turn around, this is what it looks like:
This painting can be seen next:
We later learn with Bakara that the tower was built in an arena "devoted to Kalros' glory":
Facing the Reaper is difficult enough so you'll excuse my weird screencap but we see again statues of krogan (I counted 7 at least, so this part was really full of statues, they're not placed randomly as they are meant to face each other):
And that's it for now because tumblr has an image limit, so I'll make another post about the Hollows.
Remember, as Wrex says: Tuchanka may be a pile of radioactive rubble, but it's our pile!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the city of ancients shows it's not just rubble, but culture, beauty, appreciation, history and most of all, hope!
