Also, why would Lestat's story be challenged when the everything he lies about is usually about his own trauma? What does this fandom want? To Magnus to revive and say he totally didn't rape him? What would be the point of challenging when the other authors of those books (Armand, Pandora, Marius, Quinn and Vittorio - David is dead-) can safely tell their stories to Lestat? Also do they actually think with their whole chest that those books will be adapted as seasons when Lestat's own book got a cut budget? Lestat has not lied about anything so far except for changing how his family died to Louis, which is not even in the narration.
I swear this fandom doesn't understand that unlike other characters, Lestat has no reason to openly deceive the audience. He doesn't want to be victim in a tale like Louis wanted. In fact he is running away from that.
The things he does lie about onscreen are things he is ashamed of - or wants to protect.
But that is something we‘ll see still. And that carries its own meaning.
Because what we SEE is a different matter and THAT is the narrative device used. And that will be very very clear next episode.
Fact is that Lestat‘s account goes unchallenged in the books. Armand may gripe about the how Lestat does it, but none of the vampires dispute the events themselves, but add to them.
And give them to Lestat to tell about them.
