Take That is the Beatles of Boybands. Both from Northern England, genre-defining trailblazers that started a wave they didn’t stay around to surf. Both broke up far too soon and while they were peaking, leaving a small country’s population-worth of heartbroken fans on the verge of “unaliving” themselves. (I despise this language, but I got flagged on this website for daring to post Ferris Bueller’s nipples in a meme, so)
Robbie is John Lennon: the rebel, the wildcard, voted “most likely to get an early demise”. but also the one that stands out, the charismatic king with true star-quality. his frenemies/bromance relationship with a close bandmate might or not have led to the downfall of the band.
Gary is Paul McCartney: the proper English fella who plays by the rules. Mr. Sweet Cheeks who can write tunes that are real catchy, but is plagued by an ego roughly the size of Jupiter. probably neurotic type A. amazing vocals, tho.
Mark is George Harrison: the gentle, sensitive one. (a little too into Yoga and spiritual talk, maybe) if left to his own devices is capable of creating the most amazing music when people least expect it. (and, to whom it may concern, Rob has said in video “he was the George Harrison of Take That” about Mark, in so many words! so I know I’ve got him on my corner.)
Howard is Ringo Starr: he’s the drummer, need I say more? (like… that giving him the lead vocals in songs that are good, don’t get me wrong, but could have been sublime in someone else’s voice was… a choice.)
Jason is Pete Best, at this point. Although he does give off more of a Stuart Sutcliffe vibe. But, unlike dear old Stu, Jay’s y’know… alive.
Thanks for Coming to my TED Talk, I guess… =)
