Thyroid TSH & Ferritin Levels: Atypical Results in Recent Labs
Thyroid TSH is not supposed to fluctuate or change day to day, doctors say it takes a months even years to show even the slightest difference. Not Ashley’s of LiveLoveManja. She had mentioned to her doctor that she felt her thyroid levels were fluctuating and her doctor had said that wasn’t possible. Well the labs on the left show different and her doctor was amazed at how “tuned in” Ashley is with her body. Fluctuations at this rate point to Hashimoto’s Thyroid Disease, not a typical case of hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism (common in the United States).
Lab on the right shows low Ferritin level (a protein that binds to iron) which is unique and atypical because usually patients who show high iron levels (hemochromatosis, iron poisoning) have high ferritin as well, not low. Doctors are puzzled as to why Ashley’s blood is showing high iron and high B12 but low Ferritin as they for a long time thought this was not possible and Ashley’s labs are teaching them differently. Has this happend to anyone else? Perhaps a lovely side effect of Lyme & Chronic Lyme, Hashimoto’s, or recently entering into Chronic Lyme Remission? We are waiting to hear back on what the specialists say as they are analyzing as we speak and trying to do some research on the atypical results.
