This has been a long time coming. It’s been three years since the graphic novel was announced, nearly five years since the last episode of Final Space aired, eight years since the first episode aired, a decade since Olan uploaded the pilot to YouTube, and 16 years since Gary Space as released. Needless to say, this book is the culmination of a long, complicated journey.
I’m so thrilled for Olan Rogers for getting to finally finish his story. While it may not have been exactly how he initially envisioned telling the tale, I’m glad he got to finish it on his terms. As a fan, I’m so grateful that I will get to finish a story that sucked me in eight years ago.
It is also a bit bittersweet, since I imagine the fandom will probably quiet down even more than it already has, but even if the fandom fades, I will always be happy to call myself a Final Space fan.
Thank you to Olan Rogers for developing Final Space, the actors, musicians, artists, animators, and other collaborators who helped Olan to bring Final Space to life. Additionally, thank you to all my fellow fans, who shared fan art and theories and who were a joy to be in the fandom with. This show would not have been the same without you.
