It is entirely for free, and the files were made with the intention of being downloaded and used online, or to be taken to a shop and have an indiviual copy printed off for yourself.

Rewatching Doctor Who, I am amused by Nine saying he only takes the best to travel with him, because especially in the begging, at least for the first three Doctor’s in particular (I have seen scattered episodes of the other Doctors but never episodes where they pick up a new companion so I’m learning a lot while watching from beginning on) the Doctor doesn’t pick ANY of his companions. Not really.

Because either he has people who decide they are coming with him regardless of his opinion (Susan, Zoe, Leela), people that barged into his TARDIS or stowed away (Ian, Barbara, Steven, Dodo, Polly, Ben, Sarah Jane), people who leaving them behind would almost be certain death or no future worth living (Vicki, Jamie, Victoria), circumstances just made it so they had to keep with the Doctor (Katarina, Sara Kingdom), or they actually get tasked to travel with the Doctor and he gets no real say in the matter (Liz, Jo, Romana).

Like the Doctor almost never chooses people to travel with him! Like the only ones he ends up actually inviting are Vicki, Jamie, and Victoria and like I mentioned, it wasn’t really options. Vicki was stranded alone on the planet Dido and we established the rescue ship was diverted and never coming, so had she not gone with the Doctor she would have lived alone in isolation on the planet until death. Maybe the natives of the planet would have taken her in, but after the last contact they had with her companion I doubt it. Jamie was in danger of being captured and killed in a war zone, the odds very much against his survival and the Doctor was mostly bullied by Polly. And Victoria was trapped on Skaro, an orphan and all the Daleks were killed. Leaving her behind was certain death.

Like The Doctor does eventually start selecting companions but it definitely didn’t start that way. He loves them all very much, but it very much comes across like they are the grumpy grandpa that is very against getting a cat but once they get the cat they don’t want to give it up for the world.
