My birthday is LESS THAN ONE WEEK AWAY! Francie and the Marcels have taken the submersible to explore the starchy waters of Potato Bay, looking for donations for our birthday fundraiser for shelter cats. Please consider donating if you can! Link!
I know I could lie but I’m telling the truth
Wherever I go there’s a shadow of you
I know I could try looking for something new
But wherever I go, I’ll be looking for you

A tiny red splash in a world of brown ❤️
Gelatinous zooplankton like this Ptychogastria jellyfish are common in the deep ocean, especially where the water column meets the seafloor. About the size of a quarter, these tiny red jellies use suction cups on some of their tentacles to anchor themselves to the seafloor, while other tentacles around the bell help them detect and capture food.
At first glance, many species of these little red jellies look nearly identical, making them surprisingly difficult to identify. By collecting data over decades and carefully analyzing their shape and form, MBARI scientists are helping untangle the diversity of life in the deep sea. Every observation brings us closer to understanding the remarkable animals that thrive beneath the ocean's surface.

Hey bitches! I have a question about professional clothing for job interviews. I have one scheduled for two days but i do not know what to wear. I have a lot of sensory issues and can only wear oversized clothing like sweaters and sweatshirts. For pants i mainly wear black jeans or leggings but i have a pair of slacks i am fine with. I also do not know what jewelry is appropriate. I have a lot of ear piercings but i mainly wear my hair down so they won't show very much unless i wear dangling ones. Any tips would be great!
Hi sweetie pie! Great questions. I'll link to our what-to-wear article below, but the general rule should be that less is more. So either leave most of your piercings empty, or fill them with simple studs. And tuck your hair behind your ears so your face isn't obscured. The article has a few options for clothing, but with your sensory issues I would choose a nice-looking sweater or cardigan. If you can handle it, put it over a button-down shirt.
Good luck with the interview, sweetie pie!!! We believe in you!

A good way to think of it is to go "what would be worn for a regular day at work" and go a half or full step above.
So if you're going for an office job, think slightly fancy office wear. Especially if it's a more professional office. If you're a dfab person, an oversized blazer over a lighter sweater or button down can work for you as long as it's not too big, which I've heard looks "sloppy" to management types. Go for sensible shoes with a low heel - not all bosses like heels and you're less likely to trip because of interview nerves. For dmab types, nice shirt, blazer, dress pants.
For reference, if you're looking for a part-time job at a retail place or restaurant, dress nicely and slightly better than the servers/clerks. For a food service job, I'd recommend using neutral scents/body care items like soap, no jewelry that would be no good in a kitchen like dangly earrings, and so on.
