— psychosis typically presents in 3 phases most commonly known as prodrome , acute , and recovery phases
— prodrome phase can present differently , but its generally marked by distortions in perception , irritability , depression , and disorganized thoughts making it hard to remember or comprehend your own thoughts
— during the acute phase , symptoms of psychosis are more evident. hallucinations , delusions , odd behavior , and often dissociation , but these symptoms may not all present at the same time
— delusions can vary a LOT . from delusions can be anything and can range in severity from "i fully believe this is true and do not label it as a delusion" to "i know this isnt real , but it feels too real to ignore".
— hallucinations can also vary drastically . the most commonly talked about are visual (seeing things) and auditory (hearing things) , but hallucinations can be ANYTHING . they can be smells , feeling like youre floating / moving / falling / etc. , feeling like a body part is disconnected or has been replaced , etc.
— not all psychosis is overt. some may be able to carry out daily tasks during episodes , while others may need support. episodes can last anywhere between hours to days to even years . some people are ALWAYS experiencing some degree of psychosis. it varies by condition , treatments , environment , etc.
— what are your delusions centered around ? do they change every time or is there a common thread ? what symptoms do you experience during episodes ? how long do episodes last for you ? what condition(s) cause your psychosis , if any ? theres a lot of questions you can ask urself !!
