hate symbols and dog whistles are are are different from contact stances. they are made to communicate allegiance to a specific ideological movement. it's not hard to come up with your own symbols and imagery that is not tied to a violent history of hate and violence, and is not meant to communicate beliefs or allegiance to an ideology that is antithetical to the radqueer community.

i agree with about everything else. but i don't like watering down the issue of hateful imagery and dogwistles to 'just shapes' as if they do not have a history or a purpose. they exist to communicate ideology, and pretending otherwise ignores why they're effective in the first place. i would like to see a swastika or double thunder bolts and not have to guess whether i'm looking at a n.i.n. or a neonazi.
