When tweens and teens are telling us they understand sex and can consent, it is ageist to tell them to their face that they don't understand and can't consent. I see it so often here and experience it and I'll never understand how those people turn around and go "oh, but it's just to protect le children! I super care about youthlib just ignore this one thing that's Tooootally different and children are just too fucking stupid to get!"
Unless you think age is actually set in stone, and all 18 year olds automatically can consent to sex (even if only in a useless, legal way,) you should agree that at least SOME youth under 18 (without setting ANY age limit, because that's literally just moving the goalposts,) can understand sex and consent.
This is coming from a minor with no interest in sex but an understanding of it.
There is NOTHING that should be legally punished based only on someone's identity (including age,) and in cases of contact, should ONLY focus on the youths wellbeing, that there is no abuse, etc. in that SPECIFIC CASE.
It is not good for youth to assume all relationships with adults are abusive. It is not good for youth to rip them away from people they trust in the name of the law (hell, even if abuse is involved - therapy and case workers and third parties are the way to go, not taking someone away from everything they've ever known)

okay okay, hot take that MIGHT be controversial
i think minors can consent under very VERY specific circumstances, and personally i feel like no one under 12 can consent regardless. HOWEVER if a being under 18 feels prepared for it and has considered multiple outcomes and consequences beforehand, along with being thoroughly educated about sex, i don't see the issue with, for example, a 15 year old doing sexual things with others.
my stances are very complicated. i coined a blankqueer stance specific to myself, but i'm going to explain another belief of mine!
i believe "verbal" consent is the only kind of consent that should be accepted. "verbal" includes sign language, communication cards, etc because nonverbal beings can still consent.
going along with this, i believe that physical animals cannot consent, since they do not have a verbal language that physical humans can learn and mutually understand.
tldr; i'm pro-contact and pro-consent, with the implication that animals cannot consent. so basically i'm pro-c for maps, necros, and aams (ONLY WITH CONSENT), but not sexual zoos because animals are not capable of giving verbal consent.
