Presentin my Soundwave design to the Transformers fandom =]
He's got a buncha features from his other canon iterations (I'm sure yall can already tell which ones lol) cuz I liked them all so much, so I kinda combined em all! I also thought it was fittin for Soundwave to have an instrument weapon, so he's got a hammer guitar! It also shoots soundwaves!

Most Common Terms Used in Fandom (that I have seen)
Most Common Interpretations of Aforementioned Terms
Math That Makes Those Terms Make Sense Together
Filling in the Blanks With What Sounded Good (to me)
So essentially I began with Cybertronian units with explicit definitions in canon that are also widely used in fandom (ie. Vorn = 83 years, Joor = 6 hours, Groon = 1 hour). I then worked my way out from those and tried to keep to rough factors of 6/8/10.
Some terms that did have explicit canon definitions had to be slightly skewed from their value (ie. Breem: 8 β 6 minutes, Klik: 8 β 6 seconds) if their definition contradicted another definition that made more sense/fit better.Β
At any rate, obviously no one is obligated to use this standard, but canon Transformers content has been unfortunately... awful at establishing any universal units of time, their relationship to each other, or their equivalents to human units of time.
So this occasionally makes fanfiction an absolute nightmare for people like me with a crap memory who donβt want to constantly have to scroll through a thousand pages of the wiki to remind themselves what the hell a groon is.
So, naturally, I simply spent far too long whipping up this at-a-glance guide to keep track of it & on the off chance that the fandom might adopt it. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―Β

If anyone would like to hear what I think is the difference between Functionisum and Programming in the TFA universe:
There is no difference.
It's the same thing essentially. But one sounds nicer then the other. Functionisum has a bad rep, of course, as it became clear in Cybertrons history that the idea of "Your form defines who you are." sounds pretty bad. The council recognized that it was this that lead to the war. However, they don't want to loose their means of control over the population. So how do you gain the trust of the people without getting rid of the old ways? You rebrand it.
Programming sound nicer because it sounds like an Autobot has purpose. That you were made this way inside and out, and you can be great at it if you commit to it and give it your everything. And if you can't, clearly your defective.
And programming is in everyone, even Decepticons. However, they are programmed to destroy. They are programmed to be monsters. They are programmed to be bad. That is their only programming.
Autobots are programmed to be good. Some even programmed to be heroic. So why go against your programming and become something that is evil?
Function is external, something you can reject. Programming is internal, something you can't reject. At least that's what the council wants everyone to believe.
But "You were built this way." and "You were programmed this way." sounds eerily similar, doesn't it?
I've been lookin for some Soundwave userboxes, but surprisingly, I couldn't find any. Maybe I'm just not searchin properly, I dunno. Either way, I made my own thingy

tell me anything n everything you know about transformers im curious.....
Waoh ahah well I'd love to, but Transformers is a very VERY big franchise, and there's literally so much to talk about. I'm afraid I'm gonna leave out a lotta info lol. There's so many generations that it's hard to talk about all of them. Especially since there are quite a few I haven't gotten around to watchin yet. But I'll tell you a little about G1 since that's the one I know most about and the best startin place. (Though, I know a lot about TFOne, War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, etc.)
So if you know anythin bout Transformers, you know that the main story is about the Autobots and Decepticons fightin for their own respective reasons. The Decepticons want resources and total control, while the Autobots aim to stop them and restore order. The war got so bad that they had to leave their home planet of Cybertron, and they came to Earth instead. There, the war continues as the Decepticons come up with different plans to take resources and try to take over Earth, and the Autobots try to stop them. That's kinda the basic premise for any Transformers media you'll find. But the seriousness fluctuates between what generation you watch. The original G1 is usually pretty goofy and silly cuz it's an 80s kids show. While the Bayverse movies are very serious and dark.
To give a basic rundown of the main two factions, the Autobots and Decepticons have multiple minor groups as well. The Autobots have the Dinobots, etc. While the Decepticons have the Constructicons, etc. The main Autobots usually tend to be Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Hound, Ratchet, and Wheeljack. Optimus Prime is the usual Autobot leader.
The main Decepticons are Megatron, Soundwave (ME!!), Shockwave, Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker. The Decepticon leader is usually Megatron/Galvatron.
And of course, when talkin bout Transformers, you gotta talk about the main sellin point. They're the robots in disguise. The Transformers. They can transform into pretty much anythin, but mainly mechanical objects. Cars, aircrafts, weapons, you name it. Optimus Prime turns into a truck, Megatron turns into a gun or tank, Bumblebee into a Volkswagen beetle, Starscream into a jet, you get the idea. Most only have two modes. Their robot form and their alt mode. But some can transform into multiple things like Astrotrain, who is a triple changer.
Where do they get the energy for all this war and transformation, you ask? Energon. A form of pure energy that Cybertronians consume to keep their Spark on (a Spark is basically a Cybertronian's heart). It's basically their form of food and water. Some iterations depict it as liquid like a drink, others more solid like a food. But it serves the same purpose either way. It fuels them to keep goin.
If you're ever interested in watchin G1, it's on the Roku channel for free (with ads). It is out of order so I recommend lookin up the episode release dates if you wanna watch it in order. Or if you don't wanna bother with ads, I might be able to find it on onea my Totally Legal Watch Media Sites. I recommend startin with either G1 (1984) or Transformers One (2024) as they both give good starter background info.
And that's pretty much all I can think of to talk about. At least for now. Like I said, there's so much to talk about regardin this series that it's hard to cover everythin. I recommend if you want a more concise description of the series as a whole, look up a YouTube video explainin the basic premise. It should be easier to understand through a visual format. But thank you for the ask! I always love bein able to talk about and explain my interests. Especially one that just so happens to be my source. Makes me feel a little more at home... does a lil groovy dance
