It's my birthday week, and I decided that my present to myself would be to edit a couple drafts and post them.

A trans!Jaskier fic where Geralt is oblivious until the fact is shoved under his nose.

Excerpt:

“Trust me, this conversation will be much simpler this way.”

“Pantsless?”

“Yes,” the rustling of cloth told Geralt that Jaskier’s pants had been opened and pulled down his legs. The witcher kept a blank face, but his mind was screaming. “Geralt, look at me.”

“Hmmm.”

Because

Maybe he leaves Lettenhove in skirts and long hair, with a chaperone he has had since childhood. 

And one evening he breaks down crying to her, finally daring to express his feelings about being a man. And she holds him and soothes him and lets him know he is safe with her. 

And after that, she starts investigating how to help. She finds fashion that is more androgynous, she cuts his hair short, she speak of him as her young lord when he says he feels good enough to do all of this in public. 

His parents send him angry letters, which she takes from his hands and burns when his tears start falling. 

When Jaskier finds his first true friend, she is there, supporting him.

Eventually, in his second year of school, they meet Valdo. The man is an absolute arse and a delight, because as much as they seem to hate each other, he challenges Jaskier to evolve, to get better, surer in his identity and his way of performing. Not once does he question Jaskier being a man, not once does he mention the occasional dress, but his lack of fashion sense, poor taste in ale and lovers, his playing.

But it isn’t until he meets the mage from Aretusa, the one who bespells the sorceresses' bodies when they graduate, that he starts to enjoy singing properly. 

Jaskier pays the mage every penny he has to have his body changed to fit who he is, and only later does he learn his maid added what coin she had.

This is when singing becomes his life. He performs at the local taverns to earn his keep, to keep his hand maid protected, and she smiles, and cups his cheek, and calls him her Julian.

And when he leaves Oxenfurt to become a traveling bard, he always sends money home to her, returns to her as often as he can to support her as she supported him. 

And to slander Valdo, because that bitch is still bitching.

And when he finally meets Geralt and they become comfortable enough to be friends, to talk about things, Geralt points at Jaskier’s chest and wonders who hurt him. 

“These scars are not from hurting, my friend, but from healing.”

In the morning Jaskier waits for Geralt to tie their hair up before using any non-neutral pronouns. A pony tail or braid signals she/her, half back signals they/them, and loose or with his thick black headband means he/him. Once the hair is sorted, Jaskier will spend the first hour or so lavishing praise on Geralt, complimenting her braid or offering to show her a more intricate style of braid, or helping him to brush out the dirt from his hair.

In return, Jaskier couldn't give a shit about pronouns, and both Jaskier and Geralt delight in confusing the local innkeepers by mixing them up mid-sentence, or using she/her when Jask is presenting more in a traditionally male way, or he/him when Jaskier is all skirts and flowers.

    “You’re not okay, stop telling me you’re okay!” Geralt snapped.

    Jaskier flinched at the volume more than the tone. He’d just told Geralt for what felt like the thousandth time that day that he was okay, that nothing was wrong. But Geralt knew him better than that, and Jaskier was painfully aware of this. He couldn’t hide a single fucking thing from Geralt. But this, this he’d hoped to hide until he couldn’t anymore, until his stomach’s shape and size were too obvious to ignore. 

    “I’m fine,” Jaskier bit out, eyes turned to the ground.

    He could practically feel Geralt’s growl as much as he heard it.

    “What’s going on? What’s wrong with you?” Geralt demanded.

    They’d stopped for the night in a small clearing a fair ways from the main road, and they had been in the middle of unpacking Roach for camp when Geralt had initially asked after him. He’d always known that it was only a matter of time, with his dalliances, that he could wind up with child. He’d just always hoped and prayed that he was lucky enough to avoid it, trying to time his excursions for the time of the month where it was least likely anything would come of it. But still, his monthly was never this late, and that could mean only one thing. 

    “I’m…I’m late,” Jaskier exhaled.

    “What’s that mean?” Geralt asked, clearly no patience left in him.

    “My monthly, I’m late, Geralt, you know what that means,” Jaskier sighed.

    There was a long moment of quiet before Geralt simply said, “Oh.”

    Jaskier snorted, maybe a tad bit derisively, “Yeah, oh.”

    “Are you going to keep it?” 

    Of all the things Geralt could say, somehow Jaskier hadn’t expected that to be one of them. He hadn’t really considered an alternative. He’d heard of remedies brewed by midwives and healers that could rip the seed from one’s womb before it grew, if you were quick enough to take one. But he’d also heard horror stories of women dying from blood loss or poisoning after having taken them. 

    “What if I do?” Jaskier asked in return.

    Geralt shrugged, “It’s your choice, I could walk the path with you back to Oxenfurt, help you get settled.”

    “I could keep up with you just fine, you don’t need to help me settle in anywhere,” Jaskier protested.

    “Jaskier, in your condition you need to be somewhere stable, with midwives around you,” Geralt retorted, “not following me from town to town.”

    “I could stay with you until the baby’s born, at least,” Jaskier insisted.

    Geralt scoffed, “With how you complain already? You really see yourself walking miles every day, heavy with child?”

    “I could manage it.”

Ok, i gotta spill about this idea Ive had: Trans!Jaskier being Ciri’s  bio father and Geralt also... the bio... father... Ok yeah whatever but like, heres the low down of what ive thought.  

((and no i dont care that witchers are sterile its my AU i can to what i want))

Jask and Geralt are like, established and fuckin all the time and its great

Eventually Jaskier learns hes pregnant becasue it was bound to happen and Jaskier doesnt know Witchers are supposed to be sterile so he was kinda like, counting down the days basically lmao

Jaskier is about to tell Geralt but then the mountain break up happens and he leaves because if Geralt wants him gone so bad then he wont want a baby either

so fuck Geralt he can raise this baby on his own

also the road is no place for a baby

He has Ciri at his  sister’s home (i mentioned her earlier in a little ficlet but basically shes his younger sister and people like Jaskier who arent afraid of witchers dont come out of happy homes) and he stays for like 6 months before something like, the  abusive father inserts himself into the picture and Jaskier peaces out

So Jaskier does a sort of Academy tour teaching thing where he teaches at one school for a year and goes to another school after  

Jaskier is pretty well established at this point but after this he gets even more established.

Its steady work and Ciri enjoys hanging out in his classes

They  never stay in one city for more then a year because like, Jaskier craves movement at now and he wants to show Ciri the world

Like  they have “their songs” and Jaskier does that thing dads do where they  sing over the song their kid plays on repeat really bad on purpose

Jaskier does do Sandpiper work at the same time as his teaching and uses the schools hes at to move elves and be very low key about everything

But things are still dangerous and Ciri being well known to be Jaskier’s daughter makes her a target and so Jaskier has to tell her “If things sever get bad and you need to leave you need to leave me and find a white hared witcher named Geralt”

They use  songs to queue when its safe for Ciri to come out becasue her dad’s back  and a song to queue when it’s dangerous and she needs to get the fuck  out of there.  

I  imagine Nilfguaard finds Jaskier in one of his classes and they make him go to his and Ciri’s apartment and like, thats when he sings and Ciri runs off and the Nilfguaard and fire fuck ransack the place looking  for her.

Sometimes i imagine that Ciri didnt actually run and this is where she discovers her magic and saves Jaskier form Nilfgaard and theres this whole big thing of her being scared of herself but Jaskeir isnt scared of her becasue hes her dad and its very sweet

sometimes i imagine it where Ciri does run off and she finds Geralt and as soon as they meet she like “we gotta save my dad” and Geralt is like “whoes your dad and why should i care” “My dad’s Jaskier” “oh shit we gotta save your dad”

Geralt doesnt know Ciri is his daughter, Ciri doesnt know Geralt is her dad

something something meeting with Yen something something yen mentions the baby need magic something something Jaskier doesnt tell her about ciri because no way in hell is it going to be his baby something something Geralt goes and rescues Jaskeir from captivity and Yen gets Ciri

Jaskier: “GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER!” i just really like that line because Yen still needs to get her groove back and we love a protective father who steals a sword form his ex boyfriend just to threaten his ex boyfriends ex girlfriend

Can you imagine how goddamned jealous Yen would be?????

Like, fucking Jaskier, who is supposed to be presenting as a man, has a fucking baby with a witcher, who is supposed to be sterile

and she gets nothing????????

Jealousy overload  and the feeling that Jaskeir and Geralt dont deserve a daughter if they arent even going to take care of her

but the whole thing of Jaskier prepared to take Yens head off on sight thing really makes her think that maybe Jaskeir cares more for Ciri then she thinks

Also,  while Geralt and Jaskier are traveling back to Ciri (or looking for her  or whatever) Jaskier spills that she’s Geralt’s daughter and he  obviously doesn't believe Jaskier and Jaskier is more pissed that Geralt  thought Jaskier would have someone else's baby and push it on Geralt  then anything.

Geralt does the math and gets pissed Jaskier didn’t tell him he was pregnant when the broke up.

This  is a whole big argument that leads to the “GET AWAY FORM MY DAUGHTER” and Geralt looking at her and going “Aw fuck thats my  fuckin kid ain’t it.”  

Geralt sends the two things he loves most in this world to the place he knows the most safty Kaer Morhen and they are greeted and its like nice and all

Vesemir: “Geralt my son i need to talk to you. hey how the fuck did you make that??” “I have no idea i blame the bard”

Jaskier told  Ciri the first night after all three of them were together that Geralt was her dad and said it was up to her  if she wanted to peruse a relationship with Geralt becasue he already  knows and like, “Dad is a title you have to earn, not one you can  demand.”

Ciri does want to see Geralt as a father and  Geralt wants to be a father too but hes also so scared because hes a  witcher and children are supposed to be scared of him

Like father like daughter tho and Ciri isnt scared and Jaskier says it’s ok for her to learn to fight

That’s, like, all i got right now. I think
