#toxic work

Like last week. And honestly, for a buttload of reasons but the most recent was that they had the schedule printed for two weeks, so randomly they called me up three days before a shift (that i wasn’t originally scheduled for) and were like “you have to work that day actually”. And i told them that my dad had a surgery scheduled that day and i had already agreed to take care of his after care (drive him to his appointment, wait with and for him and then take him home and watch him) so i actually wouldn’t be able to work that shift. And the manager responded with “we have the right to change your schedule 72 hours in advance. But I’ll make a note you won’t be coming in for your scheduled shift.” And that shit got me mad fucked up. I thought it was super disrespectful and inconsiderate and i was fed up with the unprofessionalism so i left. AND they’re short staffed . AND my bestie quit after me. AND they’re losing another employee in a month or so cuz she’s moving for school. Serves them right😌💅✨

It's not acceptable behaviour, not in my personal life and not in my private life to receive abuse or poor treatment for any reason. So no, I won't normalise it or tolerate it, thank you very much.

For the love of god, your coworkers don't need to know about everything about. No one cares its just ammo for getting thrown under the bus and backstabbing. People lie. Seeing the good in everyone will make ur precious pride and reputatiom get thrown in a dumpster fire and that boss u so much respect will just watch it turn to ash

So when I was 21 I was hired to work at a VERY well known decor store. I was incredibly excited, I loved interior design and this job was right up my ally. Initially everything was okay, the coworkers were nice, and the management was a bit strict but nothing out of the norm. When our general manager left to a different store our assistant manager was promoted, this was when the environment started to become toxic. I was constantly being asked to come in early, leave late, or cover on days I was off. I didn’t mind so they started to take advantage. I asked to have Fridays off to spend with my husband but was told that day was considered a weekend day and they couldn't make that happened, despite giving one girl every single Sunday off. I made top sales 3 years in a row and was rewarded with a 40 cent raise after my 3rd year, with no change in pay since being hired 3 years prior. I was passed up for promotions despite being told explicitly that I had the position and it was just a matter of signing paper work. I was retaliated against for requesting time off. I was awarded a new position by my managers supervisor which my manager promptly took away to give to another individual without even discussing with me why my position was being removed. I was not given hours for a full week despite being a FULL TIME employee. When I asked the manager why I was given no hours compared to someone who was part time her excuse was that “they have more bills than I do”. When I was offered a position in my dream career field, I put in my 2 weeks to my supervisor at which my manager felt the need to confront me for not telling her first. I was told that I was putting the store in an uncomfortable position for quitting the same week as another employee. I was constantly made to feel bad for putting myself first and inadequate in my abilities. Tomorrow I have to go and apologize to my manager for telling her superior I am leaving before telling her. Tomorrow I have to baby a grown adult who leaves early from work, takes 3 days off a week, and comes in late constantly, despite being a salary employee. If you’re also in a toxic work environment I’m so sorry and I’m here for you.
