Timbr's joy
Since discovering Timbr I have found not one but three pieces of wood while on walks thru my neighborhood. I also built a pile of sticks while cleaning my yard and I'm quite attached to them.
These discoveries create joy in me
Did Candy like sticks?
Absolutely.
Did she collect them?
Only tiny pieces of driftwood from beaches
Why?
Probably because someone told her to "stop collecting whatever, you have enough" and "why do you do things like that?"
But I never had enough
I was always looking for the rock or stick or flower that would inspire her to love me out loud
I was looking for the rock that created the same joy as a hug from someone I love
I was looking for a stick to wave in the air like the arms I wished would surround me
I was looking for the perfect flower that would make you exclaim "Wow! You are so great, you found the perfect flower!" I was looking for praise. I was looking for affection. I was looking for love.
I collected boxes of rocks and read piles of books because I was chasing love. Attention. Kindness.
I wanted to hear the name Candy float gently from inside reminding me it's time for dinner.. instead I got Candace and a scowl, not really for me but always present. Scanning the horizon for him. What if *he* shows up to take her. Scowling on the outside, feeling love on the inside.... But I could only see, not feel because she keeps her energy locked away. Safe from harm. Safe from love. Safe from violence. Safe from rejection. Safe from growth.
Timbr's joy lies in the little things.
