Part 5 of my secret Santa thing for @glintea . We’re now in the Vento Aureo section of this art gallery. The “Megapowers Explode” installment, if you will. This is Thrylos Evani Paiscir, the Wanderer Queen of the Mountain Elves. From what I understand, there are people called The Chosen in D&D, who are selected by gods to act as mortal agents or servants. Thrylos is one of these, and as a result, she has some kind of power in her forearm, which manifests as all black, with glowy green streaks and black smoke coming out of it.
On top of this, she has really neat armor, which sort of reminds me of some of the costumes from Dragon Ball: Xenoverse. Furthermore, my research into Mountain Elves says that they dress in yellow, while, silver, and gold, so I had an excuse to give her a mostly yellow color scheme. I was thinking red might be better at first, but yellow was a royal color in ancient China, so it fits the queen moniker.
I had fun drawing this one. I like making smoke effects with my charcoal pencil, because that was the one thing from high school art class that I actually understood. You just smear it around with your finger. I liked the green streaks thing, and I like the armor. I also used a photo reference for the pose, which is why she’s holding a stick. The lady in the photo had one, so I just went with it. I think I should make a habit of working from reference photos, since I have trouble committing to a pose. At least when I use a photo, I know the model looked good making it.
I had to make a judgement call with Thrylos’s hair and eyes, because my sources told me that Mountain Elves have either gold hair and violet eyes, or silver hair with amber eyes. I went with the former because Ander cornered the market on silver hair, and I liked the violet eyes. I don’t think Sam’s drawn Thrylos in color yet, so maybe I’m way off, but you might consider this the alternate JoJo Palette.
