I think that it's very clear that Casey's view on everything really has this me vs. everyone else vibe to it like he actively thinks that everyone and everything is out to get him. he was bullied enough as a kid that his parents pulled him out of school, in the kiddie races parents were against him bcs he was beating their kids, the Australian Junior Road Racing Association was against him leading to him having to leave Australia and putting him in a perilous position at just fifteen, even Chaz Davies (famous for being like one of Casey's two-ish friends in 250cc-125cc) admitted that he'd thought that Casey was cheating etc etc
it gets pointed out a lot that Casey sounds a little bitter or mean-spirited sometimes but I think understanding the ostracization from the beginning makes it understandable, like he legitimately thinks everyone and everything was out to get him because he's been a loner since the beginning. a kind of social pariah, even. esp if you read PtL you understand that he never really fit in even with his team like 2009 when he was struggling he says that "the team were convinced that everything was in [his] head" which again, must've felt like a betrayal
the main reason i'm pointing this very obvious thing out is that he fashions Valentino into a scapegoat for some of the shunning he faced and on first glance it feels odd and bitchy but in my humble opinion it's him trying to deal with it like a coping mechanism. When Yamaha shuns him he makes the odd claim that Valentino Rossi orchestrated it all, British fans hate him and it's Valentino fucking Rossi's fault and they liked him so much that they hated Casey for their rivalry etc. etc.
