Weee! 

Laura Vane has captained the Dawnbringer since she was a teenager. When rival pirate captain Darka Elsban steals it, Laura must sail to the end of the earth to get it back. With the help of a clever kitten and an animated skeleton, Laura must confront her past- and her heated relationship with Darka- to get the Dawnbringer back. Is there dawn on the horizon of Laura’s heart as well, or will she let happiness pass her by out of pride?

This is from a short story, Viral, that I’ve been working on 💖 Since I got tagged so many times, I figured I should share more than one line, lol

I am a disease.  

I am known by many names, but nonetheless I fester and replicate just beneath the surface. I am living and yet inanimate: biologists make futile attempts to shove my corners through round holes; philosophers ponder on my methods. I surpass all attempts at confinement, unseen and impossible to grasp. 

“It's a virus,” they moan, cursing my name when the scans pop up pus-boil red.  I am a virus: deception incarnate. 

Throughout the first book, despite the fact that Alderon ended the deal with Cutlo once Garrick came along, he kept scouting the roads and keeping them free of thieves and such. He doesn’t realize he has no obligation to do it anymore until Garrick points it out.

A smile blossoms across her face, dark freckles leaning in conspiratorially. “You’ll be needing better company than that sniper,” Nadege insists.  “Men like him are always more than they seem, and there ain’t no telling if it’ll be good or bad for ya in the end.”

“Bad for my purse in either case,” Jackal sighs, and startles--lightning rod jerking snapping burning down his spine--at the gushing giggles that burst out of her.  He takes a long drink from the stained glass in his hands, watching as she steadies herself with a deep breath, before leaning closer.  “I can’t keep you safe.”

“I can take care of myself, kiddo.  It’s the would that oughta be afraid of me.” 

I can’t count, don’t worry about it.

These are the first three lines of Eosophobia’s third scene :) 

Jackal stares down at the glass, opalescent and cracking, that has been placed in front of him.  He lifts it and gives it a swirl, watching the runny copper drink swirl against the glass. He gives it a sniff--rubbing alcohol and gasoline and fucking fire, burning deep between his eyes-- and Viktor gives him a look, the same look Aardwolf used to give him followed by don't play with your damn food.
