Yeah I 100% plan on making them equals in pretty much every way. I’m extremely squicked by the whole “cool powerful man bosses around inexperienced timid lady but it’s ‘equal’ because she was cocky once” trend that’s happening right now, so I’m in no way trying to repeat it.

Vilkas doesn’t even get to be a prince/king for that long because the plot gets in the way, and Marisha isn’t bound by laws or any loyalty that would force her to obey him anyway so it’s like ???

This is from a short story, Viral, that I’ve been working on 💖 Since I got tagged so many times, I figured I should share more than one line, lol

I am a disease.  

I am known by many names, but nonetheless I fester and replicate just beneath the surface. I am living and yet inanimate: biologists make futile attempts to shove my corners through round holes; philosophers ponder on my methods. I surpass all attempts at confinement, unseen and impossible to grasp. 

“It's a virus,” they moan, cursing my name when the scans pop up pus-boil red.  I am a virus: deception incarnate. 

Ooh.  Well, I can tell you where I left them last!  Viktor was recovering from a particularly violent encounter with bandits, though Nadege was the one who came away the worst from that encounter.  While she heals, Viktor and Jackal have been deciding their next moves, figuring out where to go (and who to strike) next.  Unfortunately, with the Cascadian Army surrounding their position, they will not be left alone long enough to carry out their fledgling plans.

Today, though, is my day off, so today they also get some much needed downtime.  Viktor’s going to sleep in, scramble some eggs for breakfast, then spend the afternoon fingering every hole and crook of his lover, Katenka–his gun.  Yes, he named his gun (Katenka has debated etymology, meaning either “tortured” or “pure”, which Viktor announces with pride).  He’ll try to get Jackal to help him clean his gun (he tried to get Nadege to help once–it didn’t end well, so Viktor keeps her away from Katenka when he can).  Jackal will help for a few minutes until he can come up with an excuse to get away--literally any excuse at all. Then the three of them (well, four, counting Katenka) will spend the night sitting around a campfire, singing terribly, licking their wounds, and enjoying each other’s company.

Oswald’s day off and his canon events are pretty much one and the same right now.  He’s enjoying the view of the Pacific Ocean with his new companion Peni, making up tangential poetry as he goes (it’s all pretty bad, but, well, who’s going to tell him?).   Today he’s just going to continue on with his poetic mockery and listen to her story.  He’s feeling a bit sentimental because Peni’s scheduled to die–that’s why he’s come for her, after all–but, well, he can only wax poetic for so long before he realizes she’s not planning on going quietly.

I used to have a bad caffiene addiction that was largely because of the caffiene pills I would take to get through my class + work schedule.  don’t do that kids, it’s not worth the headaches

I’m allergic to cats, dogs, and dust mites.  I am Cursed. 

I listen to music at volumes significantly higher than I should

I take a lot of “self-care days” off from school because when I get too stressed I usually start getting nerve pain (not directly--stress makes me tense and my sleep way worse, and usually that’s what leads to me getting pinched nerves and shit) 

My first writing project of any significance was Legend of Zelda fanfiction 😂

I have, ah, a book hoarding complication.  NOT a problem.  Just.  Uh.  A complication in which the mass of books is, maybe, vastly disproportionate to the size of the space I live in?

I can’t sleep with socks on unless I’m sick and trying to break a fever.  Otherwise I literally can’t do it idk what to tell you :/

I have a mini christmas tree that I keep up year round!!  It’s got... an eclectic collection of ornaments.  Highlights include a foam hot dog and a potato peeler.

(Bonus):  I started attending college full-time at age 15.  Would not recommend, but I did it and am still here, please help, they won’t let me leave

Stumble

He stumbles over the trip-wire roots of the trees encroaching on the ancient concrete.  Their dust-bark fingers snag the stretch of his ankles that his pants don’t cover, clawing and breaking apart under his feet as he pulls away with a snarl and a mumble of fuck.  Of all the things to survive the fire, of course it was the useless kindle that penetrates up from the ground–a reminder of nature’s distaste for the breathing. 

Confuse

Ajax flashes her a look of confusion, scribbled into his raised eyebrow and widened eyes–but Iris is smiling at her, her flushed-red skin matching the fire behind Magenta’s eyes.  "I think we can do something about that,“ Iris says, nodding sharply.  

“I don’t want to just do something,” Magenta insists. “I want to do destroy it.  I want the whole damn thing to burn.”

Gold

Viktor thumbs the golden chain around his neck, the metal swiveling as he purses his lips.  "Those imperialist bastards wouldn’t help us if it looks like anything other than a robber’s raid.  Sons of bitches wouldn’t piss on us if we were on fire unless they thought they could get something out of our debt.“

“Giant, they wouldn’t piss on you because they can smell shit when it’s handed to them.  Smalls and I?  We’re quality piss-on material.”
