I am delighted to announce that my abstract artwork titled The Stag Call and the Tree of Life has been chosen for exhibition in the Under the Oak gallery as part of the Mountshannon Regeneration arts festival on the 24th to the 26th of September. I was inspired to create this work as i wanted to capture the strength of a Red Deer Stag, to portray it’s power and the animals links with Celtic Mythology, secret knowledge, life, fertility and vitality. The antlers themselves are a symbol of the tree of life, a symbol of regeneration. The main challenge with this work was express the animals gaze into the sky and to do this in metal and represent it was difficult and testing, but i feel i have done this fine King of the forest justice. Medium: Salvaged 50 year old copper on plaster and board: Fully handcrafted by copper relief, fold forming and patina finishing methods, with shades of Black Patina through the body.
