10 reasons Beethoven is spiritually a brown bear (cub). Another thing nobody asked for
Hello. I love Beethoven and it didnt escape my mind that Cherubini called Beethoven an "unlicked bear cub." The original meaning has no correlation to an actual bear cub, but i will show that somehow beethoven connects with this beautiful animal in lots of ways.
1. Bear litters mostly consist of 2-3 bear cubs.
Beethoven's mother carried many pregnancies, but in the end, only 3 of the boys survived through adulthood. Ludwig is literally the first baby who will have to be the bigger figure to them constantly.
2- They have dark expressive small eyes
As Rossini himself said it: "while from under heavy eyebrows his eyes shone as from out of caverns and, though small, seemed to pierce one.” From all of his portraits, we can tell Beethoven's eyes are overly expressive.
3- Forehead
Noted as sometimes his most handsomest feature, he had a broad forehead. Schindler himself called him Jupiter's head. Bear cubs have bigger foreheads too, full of forests and mama thoughts.
5- Clingy towards Mama
Beethoven will consider his mom his greatest friend and will only have the highest words of praise towards her till the end of his life. Also the one who naturally cared and nurtured for him more. (compared to deadbeat nobody Likes). Bear cubs rely heavily on their mama as they grow up.
6- Bear cubs are adorably clumsy
Beethoven was famously clumsy and had little grace to his movements. Danced badly and always ended having little cuts on his face whenever he shaved. (according to Ries). As we know, bear cubs have many tumbling antics which make them very accurate to a Beethovenian representation.
7- They have a very diverse diet, and fish is one of their favourite main dishes!
Beethoven had a very distinctive diet and preference on what he consummed. From his coffee (60 beans) to soup (made by a good heart), eggs(sometimes 10!) and finally fish. Bears are omnivorse. And of course, while their preferences vary, they also eat lots of fats, berries, honey and fish!
8- When they're comfy, bear cubs make a loud like humming noise
Beethoven was said to have a very loud laugh by Stephan von Breuning's wife. When bear cubs are comfortable, they also have a very motor-like hum. I don't think many people checked that, but they definitely should. Its a very cute sound especially when you see these little animals.
9- Bears are capable of appreciating nature.
One of his biggest loves was nature. Beethoven was capable to walk through nature forever and not realise the movement of time, often even reaching different places he didn't know that well. Bears themselves have been noticed to have a sense of this appreciation towards nature, being able to sit still for long periods of time and simply admire.
10- Bears are mostly solitary
Beethoven, till the end of his life, will remain mostly alone and mistunderstood by many. He roams alone and and master simple surviving. So do Bears.
