lore funfacts:
He was the last neighbor to move in!
He would do good in Anomaly Spotting games, like Observation Duty
Despite being really standoffish, he's made good friends with Julie. I like thinking about them interacting a lot.
There's a few songs that remind me of him... i think care anymore by pooterdabooter/oftentimes is a good one. A horse with no name is good too. i love associating music with my characters and aus mwmehehe
I said once that his voice would sort of be like Keith David's but with Eddie's accent. Lmao
Eddie has clinical depression, though he's undiagnosed. Obviously in Home there's no where to get diagnosed, but it's also a mix of the times being unwelcome to mental illness, and Eddie seeing his depression as something he just needs to "man up" and get over. I could talk about this more in depth but euhgufhgfg deserves it own post and more thought!
Eddie has a photographic memory, though photographic memorys are largely considered to be myths, so I can't make any real-world connections of 1970s cases of it. BUT i do think it's something he's officially recognized by doctors for, since it's something that would've been noticed when he was a child.
The front of the post office is simple, with like a front desk and a few other decors, but theres a door to the back where Eddie stays. The back room is like... Mythically gross and messy.

TECHNICALLY. the entire AU exists because of him. This whole thing started three years ago when I wanted to draw Eddie stressed or angry, and it somehow turned into an AU version, and then i wanted to design all the other neighbors, and now. we are here. three years later (holy shit)
He was heavily inspired by Shane from SDV (fucking obviously) (just look at him)
He has more obvious inspirations like Eddie Brock (the one played by Tom Hardy), Rick Hedony (Spooky Month), and Ben Miller from Escape Room
but he has some weird inspos like Doll from Murder Drones, Abaddon from Haunted Hotel, Becky Prim, and Nicole from Class of 09 LMAO. Silly enough Julie has "matching" inspos, with Jecka from Class of 09 and Lizzie from Murder Drones.
there's also a Deltarune chapter 5 character that makes me think of him, but I won't name him to avoid spoiling the chapter.
Back in the Beta of this au, I took away his hat because i truly did Not know how to draw it. I like drawing him with it now because I can give him the dramatic face shadow. I think he just doesn't Like to wear it, maybe he loses it in the wind and just doesn't bother to go after it.

i never know how to answer those "Are Frank and Eddie a couple in the DCH Au?" questions that i get A Lot.
in a way there's two different answers. and i dont know how to answer it without over-explaining how i view welcome home. or even just over-explaining welcome home in General
aguhh it's hard to explain. it's like how theres "fanon" franklydear, where we all have fun with fan content, and their "canon" relationship which is ofc currently in progress
but the thing is. the DCH au IS fanon content. its ALL fanon. but theres still a "fanon" version in my head and a "canon" version.
i dont know how to explain it its hard. rghhhhghrh.
i like to have Fun with this AU because its My old ass au and i love them. i love these stupid puppets a lot. i like to make them say things they couldnt reference in the story because its 1970s and juggalos havent been invented yet. i love to play dolls and make them kiss. but thats not whats "Actually" happening in the story.
but i have no frame of reference to point to and say "Well its not canon There" in the same way Clown has the website. It's easy for us to differentiate the fanon and the canon, even with Clown's own "fanon" work, because in their words if its not on the website its not canon, which is easy to follow. we have the non-canon content of them playing dolls and we have the canon content from the website
tl;dr: i think in the end the answer is DCH! Franklydear is about as canon as they are in the OG Welcome Home website.
